Slipknot – Vermilion Lyrics 16 years ago
The buildup is very intense.

He cares for this girl, but at the same time, she is his affliction. He wants to have her, always. She has similar dark parts, and she brings out his. She also has parts that seem so delicate, fragile. She seems emotionally breakable. But she's not. She wants to seem delicate which can be equated with femininity, not for who she really is.

There is the obvious attraction, sexual chemistry "pheromones"... but it doesn't get past sex. He wants so much more because sex is more tied to emotions, but probably she doesn't. There are possessive undertones in both songs, hints of s&m but it's more like emotional s&m. The first describes their relations, the second describes the aftermath and his longing. Trying to convince himself she is gone.

The musical genius is that someone who may not have experienced said situation can still feel the raw emotion. The fact that it was captured, by an unlikely band at that, is amazing... And I'm quite impressed. It's rare for the instrumental parts of songs to make me feel sad, and mainly it's only a few NIN songs that give that to me- not Slipknot, until now.

When I hear "climatic hands that press" and "Her temples and my chest enter the night" I think those verses are quite seductive. "neverous, perverse when I see her" "Hard to say what caught my attention" "pheromone cult"

Matt Nathanson – Come On Get Higher Lyrics 16 years ago

When he says, "I see angels and devils and god when you come.." He pauses after "come" which makes me thing he is really meaning "cum" and adds "on" to make it more subtle. And then he says "hold on, hold on, hold on, holllddd on" which makes me think about when you are having sex and you just have to keep holding on if one partner is about to climax- or you want to keep holding on to each other during an intense orgasm.

When he is saying "I see angels and devils and god when you cum," he is explaining how powerful it is and emotional and spiritual it is just having sex and watching her orgasm.

It makes more sense to think of it that way.

Evan and Jaron – Crazy For This Girl Lyrics 16 years ago
When I hear

She rolls the window down
And she
Talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by

I always think of steamed up car windows from passion or needing to get air in an apartment from heavy breathing. idk

Two Hours Traffic – "Whenever We Finish" Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about an off-and-on relationship where the girl is always going out "taking on trouble" and she expects him not to use sound judgment by taking her back (seeing double, read: drunk) or seeing her other (double) side that is good.

"Tangled in feathers" refers to feathers from a feather pillow/mattress.
"tired and hoarse" means from sex and breathing during sex.
"Caught up in tethers you are the source" means he's tied to her and can't get away/he's on her tether.

"Whenever you're drifting from pillow to pillow, you always expect me to lift up my window" means she sleeps with other guys, but always wants to come back to him)

"I'd rather see you in color" refers to how you can only really see shades of gray at night- which is when the girl gets lonely or wants to be with him. The whole cones and rods thing with night and day and you optical nerves...

"Carry the weekend, fist in the air. Tonight you'll be back with hands in my hair" means she'll go out ready to have an exciting weekend, but she'll want to come back to him at night.

I LOVE this song....
