I think it's a tug-pull kind of love/hate relationship Adam is singing about, cause it seems that he gives and gives, but she takes and takes. So because of this he is always in misery. And also I think she keeps finding ways to point out what he is doing wrong and she won't just let him be. I'll break down some of the song lyrics to show what I mean... "So scared of breaking it. But you won't let it bend." - She is afraid that if it ends, she won't be stable enough, so she won't bend to his way of thinking that is 10x's easier than her fears are telling her to believe. From what I've noticed in the lyrics and then watching that music video it's obvious that it's about meeting your other half that completes you. I don't mean soul mate, I mean twin flame. The person that not only thinks on the exact same level as you about everything, but the moment you met, your entire world suddenly changes. They are the mirror image mentally. I've noticed how it's also stating that this is some girl he finally met that makes him feel at home inside for once in his life. Twin flames will do that to someone. Anyway, I like to point out a section of the lyrics: I believe in you, "Like a Virgin," you're Madonna, And I'm always gonna want to blow your mind. (meaning madonna wasn't a virgin and in her song "like a virgin", it's stating how she was with this guy who not only wowed her, but touched her heart deeply emotionally, mentally, and sexually. There is the chorus of that song that makes me aware of why it was used in this song by Train: "I was beat, incomplete. I'd been had, I was sad and blue. But you made me feel, yeah, you made me feel shiny and new.") Anyway, something personal stuck out from the lyrics that reflects my own experience: "Just in time, I'm so glad you have a one track mind like me." - there is a guy whom for some reason I've gotten to know and we are on the same page so often, it recently ended, but we stayed friends. The thing is that before we really gotten to know one another, it was interesting. Then a time went on, we both realized that we're on the same mind track about so many things, that's spooky. "You gave my life direction, a game show love connection, we can't deny-i-i-i." - haha reminds me of the guessing games i made him play and the fun surprises I pulled out on him, like making him a mix cd or inspiring him with thoughts of wisdom at random moments. Plus the way that we both get into games and what not, reflects the silliness like a game show when we play pool or something like darts... "I'm so obsessed, My heart is bound to beat right out my untrimmed chest" - this is exactly how he felt the night he saw me. I was told by someone later on that he was so nervous that when he tried to come over to talk to me, that he felt his heart beat so hard that he thought it was going to pound out of his chest if he tried to come up to me. I was shocked, but in awe of how nervous he was to talk to me. "The way you can cut a rug, watching you's the only drug I need." - then also from the nigh we met, I was constantly dancing for hours, and he was hooked just watching me move and groove. I noticed him staring for hours before he made a real move, but he just stared in awe like he was getting a high from watching me dance. |

This song is about war, more so from what I can tell as it was said World War II. When I think about that war from the 1940's, usually an picture this as it was when they were in Germany fighting against the Axis powers and also when they hit the shores in France on D-Day is more evident with the part "Their knees in the sand". My grandfather was there and I've seen pictures. This song describes how men bonded creating their own band of brothers. Guys that became family/best friends. I do notice that the one part states how we choose to get involved too late for the war, cause we were literally like one of the last few countries to step up and take action. I love how AVA did a song about this war! |
