This song doesn't really have to be about romantic/sexual relationships at all, although it can. But you know, the video is about people turning away from people who hold artificial authority over themselves. I've always seen this song in a very "punk" themed way. The realization that other people basically have only the power over you that you give them. He wants to go big, and he already put his chips all in (in whatever it is, he doesn't specify). He is tired of his fake relationships with all kinds of people: bosses, girls, parents, whatever it is. He's tired of it. He's going to be himself and go get what he wants. He promises to fuck with people's minds, but he has the balls to be honest to their faces when need be. He's still stuck in this town, he can't really leave, but he's suddenly satisfied because he has overcome his own submissiveness and now is pursuing his own dreams. |
