I'm not very good with lyrical analysis, but I have my own interpretation of this song. I doubt it's similar at all, but here you go... I think it's possibly about the story of Romeo and Juliet, most specifically the time when Romeo found a seemingly dead Juliet. I couldn't help but think that. I'm not sure though... Hurtful words, from my enemies of the last five years. ~~~~This could signify the long, ongoing feud between the Montagues and the Capulets. I know it's definitely longer than five years for this particular feud, but the lyrics could have been tweaked a little bit for whatever purpose. What's it like to die alone? ~~~~If Juliet is dead, well, he won't settle for anyone else, therefore he'd be alone. ........ Finger on the trigger to my dear Juliet. ~~~~Romeo is not necessarily murdering Juliet, but this line could have been a reference to what Romeo thought was Juliet's death. Out from the window see her backdrop silhouette. ~~~~Maybe he's remembering the time he saw her on the balcony as he This blood on my hands is something I cannot forget. ~~~~I don't know. It could be the fact that things could have changed if he hadn't killed Tybalt, or it could be Juliet's blood, even though she wasn't outwardly bleeding. ........ I can't take this, take any more. I cannot feel what you've done to me. ~~~~He can't take the thought of her being dead; their love was so strong, and he came back only to find her dead. I agree 100% with life_in_blacknwhite. Seems kind of like an awakening, possibly a rude one, to me as well. Every time I hear this song I laugh, because my friend's last name is Gallo and the line "hiding from the gallows" makes me crack up. |
