The chorus is my favorite part. It brings me to tears. It confounds me with how simple, yet potent the message is- the fact that I alone am insignificant, yet behind me, supporting me, awing me, is the great, vast world that I am a part of. We are nothing on our own, but instead we are all a small piece of a greater purpose. Truly sublime. Vacance -> french for Vacancy or Vacation |

what a jerk comment to make- way to completely miss the message and inspiration of a song, as well as the mood its trying to portray solely on one technicality. typical. who cares if he says a million or a trillion miles away? its far either way, and thats the point. its very far off, completely removed from society, but its still a message that the world needs to hear. |

The lyrics are definitely gibberish- just barely there words and sounds mumbled to add texture and take you to a different dimension. Its amazing how Liz makes lyrics into another type of sound, its like it adds another layer to the music besides the instrumentation and despite the lack of concrete words with a decided meaning. Liz truly uses her voice as an instrument. This song makes me feel two things: Resignation to the inevitable. And indifference in the face of death. Like a society is dying off, but they aren't afraid, instead they are accepting, ready even. And they sing their magical, otherworldly swan song as they march straight towards destruction. Somehow its not completely depressing though.. its almost admirable instead. Like maybe death will bring them to a better place. That's what I see when I sit back, listen, and close my eyes. Other thoughts? I'd love to hear from some people. :) |

| Amazing, its almost like the essence and journey of life has been captured in 3:19sec. Quite the awe-inspiring and mystical song. | |

Ah... This song makes me feel protected, warm, and mellow. It feels like some distant heavenly entity has wrapped its entire being around you and your insides are ignited by passionate burning flames. The repeated line "without a doubt" is the icing on the cake... no matter what there is always this ardent love to look forward to. |

I disagree with the other people who think this song is depressing. I actually think that though it is quite somber, it is also very serene and music sort of pulses with energy. It really makes me think of just detaching yourself from worries or anxieties and becoming something more transcendental that isn't weighed down. You're free to do what you want and you're more than just human - "I go where I please", "That there, that's not me." I've seen that apparently this song is about Thom getting over the stress of his tours and his stage fright. This really resonates with me, seeing as I get really anxious about performing or exposing myself in front of people also. A lot of times when I sing or speak in front of my peers or groups of people, I always tell myself "every second you spend up hear is another second closer to you being done.. and its almost over." When you speak in front of people, its always sort of like an out of body experience anyway, where you just kind of phase out, you're no longer aware that you are the one speaking. Before you know it, you're back in your seat, or you're at home thinking about what happened and the experience had all gone by in a flash, "In a little while, I'll be gone.. the moment's already passed." This song really resonates with me, I love the message of being separate from your physical existence and viewing the world from strictly a spectator's perspective. |

have you heard Samson? Thats a clear biblical reference; and if you didn't notice maybe you should spend more time researching the songs instead of bashing people for giving their opinion. If she could make references to Christianity in that song, it's certainly possible that she's made more references in this song or any other song she has ever sung. |

I cannot believe that some of you guys think this song is about sex or whatever. Its all in how you look at things, and the way youre minds are interpreting things may make it "dirty", but that is not what this song is about.. I think its much more than that. This song, to me, is most definetely talking about life in general. She's questioning herself and whether or not she has in her what it takes to make it through trials. "It takes alot to always be on form"; she's saying it takes alot.. almost too much, to be ready and to be composed in the face of impossiblities. "Been one of those days, safety first dont push" is her saying that its been one of those almost impossible days where you just wish you hadn't even got out of bed and she's saying to herself I don't want to be so intent on pushing my limits that I destroy myself.. thats the safety. "one nerve remaining, waiting on one look" is where she's saying she has barely nothing left, but she does have one last desire to press through and she's waiting on the cue or "a look" to go forward (possibly from herself or maybe a sign). In the bridge I believe she's releasing all of her feelings about the past and how its made her depressed/sad. When she's talking about ducking she's definetly telling herself to watch out and "be good in the move" or be able to handle ths shifts/changes in life. I'm not quite sure about "caught in the light of you're suit", but its not talking about a literal suit (if those are the actual words), its probably talking about their hand or what they've been dealt in life. Maybe she's jealous of someone else..? Or maybe she's caught up in the "light" of some kind of revelation. And of course "Have you got it in You?" is her asking herself, do I have what it takes to make it through what I have to face, or better yet, through life itself? |
