In the version i have you hear an old train at the end..Perhaps to the camps? Your interpretation is sound.. Even if it's not what the band says it's about. |

The song for me is describing his relationship with the girl he's not entirely sure if he's in love with or loves. It was a relationship without much to say a most the time, if you get me drift ;) "What makes her come" "Quand elle joue avec moi" I feel shy to give any other examples =$ I think he tried so hard to keep her happy emotionally and sexually and did or felt like he screwed up. Like all of us, he's thinking "why does it have to be so hard? I've no idea!" |

If the line is "don't fight me" it's because he's fighting the air against the demons of his dreams and she's in the way in her efforts to calm him. Does this guy have to be a lover? It sounds like the sort of protection someone could have towards a child, perhaps a kid brother? |

| Melody Gardot – Goodnight Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Theres a little bit of easy French at the end in the version i have: Bonne nuit Ferme tes yeux et juste reste ici Je te regarde toute la nuit, Pendant toute la nuit. (Goodnight, Close your eyes and just lay here I'll watch you all night, All night long.) Then a series of bum-da-doos. It's sort of like Mama Cass's Dream a Little Dream of Me. A woman wanting a man to love her, live her and breathe her.. Enough so that even his subconscious thinks of her. |

Maybe it's about a loving and passionate relationship... "when i am with you it's familiar and beautiful and i love it as i love you" She has gotten pregnant.. "i see us three with words and music" But she is/ they both are too young for a family.. And regretfully, her parents have forbade them seeing each other anymore.. "every time i see your face i break down and cry i see it in your family as they walk on by" But they try to find some way of going back to each other... Even if they cant be physical anymore "come back to me and i'll come back to you that's something we both can now not do " Probably a long shot.. |

Anyway.. This song in particular... Someone said its about being high.. I think i agree.. There are loads of references to 'Smack"- "Gold and Bronze" "Gold pinnacles in her hair" is her fuzzy vision.. She's light/heavy headed... She's seeing stuff like you would after pressing your eyes for a while And then about Bells and drums, sounds she's hearing.. Talking about her high - "Clapclop. Clipclap. Clappyclap." Then her low - "I feel so sad. P. S. So lonely blooming." She's mixing up her words coz she's so intoxicated. |

Some of her (barely intelligible) lyrics seem to be influenced by Shakespeare.. Or at least by period poetry.. Has anyone else got that? In courtship dating there's "How do i feel for thee?" Or is that just similar to Browning's Poems from the Portuguese? And here.."Soft word. But look! The bright stars fade. O rose! ... The morn is breaking." I love most of Crystal Castles stuff.. Im sure there's some coherence somewhere.. But i like them all the more when i find them hardest to understand. |
