| To me it sounds like it's about a good friend who he is watching destroying their lives. and they wont stop and open up their eyes to realize what theyre doing, even if theyre constantly asking him for advice and confiding in him. So day by day they just continue to live their reckless lifestyles. And its killing him to watch this happen despite all of his efforts. So he's giving up on them completely. I can relate to this song a lot, definitely my favorite. | |

well yea he's talking about the fall of rome, but i think it's pretty clear that he's talking about the end of a huge relationship. i mean he refers to the city as her several times for starters. "our empire has fallen" "tonight, its over...at long last we will fall" i think those two quotes lay it all out pretty much. someone he'd built a really strong relationship with overtime and came to love came to an end and came crashing down. thats my take on it, its 5 am atm so im probably not expressing my thoughts to my best ability right now xD overall its a very well written song, one of my favorites on the album. |
