I think mother is actually mother Russia. This whole song is about Russia isolating themselves behind the wall, and a critique of the communist ideology. which would make the last line make sense. |

beautiful song. suddenly the meaning is very, very clear to me. so much about child abuse and so on. heres by take. The song centers around the perspective of the on-looker. maybe the neighbor. "Blank face in the windowpane Made clear in seconds of light" this describes the person window, looking out. " Might be waiting for someone Might be there for us to see " this is the on-lookers guess on what the person in the window is doing. actually the spectator thinks that the person might be lonely "Might be in need of talking Might be staring directly at me " "Inside plays a lullaby Slurred voice over children cries On the inside " The spectator knows that abuse is going on "Haunting loneliness in the eye Skin covering a secret scar His hand is waving a goodbye There's no response or action returned " the spectator wont return the persons friendly gestures. He is afraid to get mixed up in everything. even though the person is very lonely "There is deep prejudice in me Outshines all reason inside Given dreams all ridden with pain And projected unto the last " He knows he must do doing, but the mentality of not meddling in other peoples lives keeps him from doing it. his social stigma stops him from acting reasonably. It is killing him on the inside thus the 2 last lines but that is just my take on the song |

Pandora er en af saturns måner, men sangen handler sandsynligvis om pandora æske. Pandora var den første kvinde, skabt af zeus hun havde en stor skønhed og et talent for at bedrage. Senere stjal hun ilden og zeus blev sur, hun blev så sendt til Epimetheus, sammen med en gave; den såkaldte Pandoras æske. Da hun kom ind i menneskenes samfund åbnede hun æsken, hvorved det meste af æskens indhold ('ondskab' og 'sygdom' osv.) blev sluppet ud. Kun 'håbet' forblev i æsken i en tid, men slap også ud til sidst. Dette sidste var dog også bare et onde, da det - som Hesiod peger på - kun er dårskab og selvbedrag at have håb om fremtiden, når fremtiden ikke kan kontrolleres af mennesket. håber det hjælper |
