The thing about this song is that it can be taken one of two ways. If one knew that it was written for the movie Lost Boys, then you hear it in a sense meaning kinship. I guess a better way to put it is by saying that you see it as a song dedicated to the vampire clan, "Love is with your brother" meaning that love is with your kind, those who best understand you and such (In their case, vampires). However, if one did not see this from a theatrical point of view, then undoubtibly incest would come to mind. I wonder if it was originally meant to be incestuous, or if it was written in such a way to make the listeners question it... Or maybe the "Love" that is referred to is a protective, brotherly-love, not intimate. But in that theory, there are flaws. Such as "My Shangri-Las, I can't forget,Why you were mine, I need you now" which makes me think intimately... In either case, the song (both the original and Aiden's remake) is absolutely amazing. I'd be lying if I said that the first time I heard it I didn't get chills. :) |
