| My Morning Jacket – Bermuda Highway Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think he's definitely clearly saying follow through with your dreams, even the silly ones, whatever it is it's what you wanna do so f'ing go for it. and "don't carve me out" i think means don't put me in a category just because of what you know about me and my life, he doesn't wanna be grouped with all the other artists or people that have the same career as him, cause he's his own person still. also maybe he's saying what he is or does now might not be what he is or does the rest of his life so don't label him one thing cause he can always change, he's not stuck with what he's doing during this period of his life. i think "that meek guy" might be a specific artist or artists in general who've been ruined or changed or died cause of the dark side of fame and maybe he feels like he got off easy cause he still has his own life and it hasn't been taken over by the media/fans/paparazzi, etc. so he's fortunate but could easily have been that guy. | |
| My Morning Jacket – Death Is the Easy Way Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i cant believe no one's said anything about drugs/addiction yet. this is just my interpretation, but i could be wrong. but i think it's saying death is the easy way cause it's easier than living with an addiction cause you're not really living if something controls your life, ex: drugs. all you're thinking about is when you'll get it next and time goes slowly when you dont have it but when you get it everything's okay again. and there's no point in trying cause you can't stop. and "nothing gets you high, you're poor the day you die" cause nothing will ever be as good as the drug and thats all you'll have til you die cause you spent or lost everything you had on the drug you love. even though you wish you could be happy some other way still "seeing you feels good....anything much sweeter would make me die" i think it's saying you're pushing the limit as far as possible without killing yourself, so you're just inside the line of going too far but you're damn close. | |
| My Morning Jacket – The Way That He Sings Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i think i heard somewhere once that he's saying "i ain't no woman, i ain't no woman" and it does sound like that and maybe it could make sense cause he's saying "it's the way that he sings" etc. like he loves this dude and his voice but he's still a man. not that he'd be worried about that, but it might make sense. and this is the first time ive thought this after really reading all the lyrics, but i'm really thinking it also has something to do with war/violence in the world and how we're so lucky "just to wake everyday alive and by your side" and not be affected by it most of the time..."why's it so soft when the cannons unload on the others, why're we so loud when we say it won't happen to us..." when it happens to others we aren't very affected and it seems like it could never really happen to us but it could and we should think about it more instead of just saying it won't happen and ignoring it. so if i'm right, either he's talking about that and also talkin about something else - this singer/song. or it's some really random meaning that only he knows. but i really don't think it's just as easy as he's talking about being in love with music. of course he is but i think there's a way deeper and unexpected meaning here hopefully someone feels me on this... |
