If the meaning of a song is known - especially one as universally acknowledged like 'Hey Jude' by The Beatles, what is the point of interpreting the meaning to suit one's own purpose? Tiffany94, Thanks for that bit of Lennon's opinion. I did not know that but I do so agree. For once, McCartney avoided the cloying lyrics he could often be found guilty of producing. The sparse, stark nature of a story laid bare simply, works terrifically well. It is very effective. From a self-confessed Northern Man, the lyrics are also a surprisingly effective Feminist paean.10/10 for Mr. McCartney. |

AngelDust20, 'Everything they said to you when you were together that made you feel so good, seems to have really meant nothing. To think like this is to do yourself & former love such a terrible disservice of disingenuity. Of course you meant something to them during your time together. Back then, it was real. It was genuine. It is just that you no longer mean as much to them. Some relationships are not meant to last. They exist to prepare each individual for future, longer term pairings. They endow people with experience to enable different/better treatment of future partners. It hurts but, it gets better |
