| to go along with this idea would be the end of the song where all the fueled by ramen singers join in. maybe pete is trying to remind patrick that none of them would be where they are if he had never sung those songs. | |

I really think alot of this song is about signing artists under their record label. Its not as obvious in the troubled thoughts and self esteem part but maybe with that theyre saying they seem like these industry giants that have perfect lives but in reality theyre still just as f***ed up as anybody if not more so. And all I can think of Is the way I'm the one Who charmed the one Who gave up on you -I interpret this stanza as about the artists they DIDNT sign. Gave up on them by not signing them. They say the captain Goes down with the ship So, when the world ends Will God go down with it? -Fall Out Boy IS the captain and when the bands they signed lose success will Fall Out Boy die out too? I will never end up like him Behind my back, I already am Keep a calendar This way you will always know -I think theyre saying that even though it was never their goal they have turned sort of into business men whether or not they openly acknowledge it. And the ending when all the artists that are under their label are singing Fall Out Boy songs its rounding out the song and displaying their assets. At the same time its commenting on the first point that Fall Out Boy started out as a little man like all the bands under their now signing and has worked their way to the top. |
