| The Airborne Toxic Event – All I Ever Wanted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| "In my grasp" makes so much more sense then "in my breast." She's completely under his control and "I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it exciting." He enjoys being in control of her, of having her at his mercy, even though he knows it's wrong. | |

Who corrected these lyrics? They seem to be pushing some kind of agenda because other lyrics sites have fallen victim to the same atrocity. If you listen to the lyrics, you will find the ones posted in the comments are correct. On a brighter(?) note, this version of the song is beyond glorious... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEBNVAwilpY&feature=related (Note the lyrics he sings!) |

Modest Mouse writing a love song...ok, so the music isn't original but the lyrics are. Yes, it is about being a teenager in love. I say that with some authority :P It's so beautiful and sweet and calming. Just so nice. |

| Okkervil River – The War Criminal Rises and Speaks Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Oh, and I forgot to add, the line "So they found a lieutenant who killed a village of kids" implies that the war criminal is a scapegoat, an object towards which hatred is directed, rather than someone hated because he is worth of hatred. |

"So they found a lieutenant who killed a village of kids. After finishing off the wives, he wiped off his knife and that’s what he did." This song is just heartbreaking. All the more heartbreaking because there's so much truth in it. The simple fact is, in our culture we don't just criminalize people, we demonize them. It's wrong and often just as evil as the crimes themselves. We as a society are more interested in Revenge than in Justice. My view on that will change when we stop fucking up peoples lives by putting them on a registry that says "Fuck this guy up as much as possible" (sex offender registry) often for very minor crimes, when we stop throwing CHILDREN into PRISON, when we stop locking people up and throwing away the key for non-violent crimes, when we stop locking CHILDREN up and throwing away the key, and most important of all, when we stop the ultimate hypocrisy of state-mandated murder, otherwise known as the death penalty. This song to me is absolutely a commentary on the demonization of people who, yes, did wrong but are not the devil incarnate. It's beautiful and very moving. |
