Sublime – Santeria Lyrics 12 years ago
He said IF he had a million dollars-- if thereby making it a hypothetical situation which means it HASN'T happened yet so him saying ID SPEND IT ALL is correct grammar in this context of meaning.

Metronomy – The Bay Lyrics 13 years ago
Of course you can take it literal that he wants to take her back one day to 'the bay' rather than some flashier location such as hong kong, tokyo, etc. But, since love/relationships is a popular topic I think it's symbolizing him. They were together she grew apart due to work and wanted bigger and better things. But he knows and he knows she knows the private little world they had together 'the bay' is what she really wants. Or at least he hopes. And will take her back one day when she realizes that the bay 'felt so good' .

Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 16 years ago
The 21 gun salute is what they have when someone dies --- I think it's implying that you (one) better surrender before you create your own death.

Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song can be taken in many ways in general to realize when something is no longer worth fighting for and if you continue going along the same path it may be disastrous(to the point of killing you inside or literally)-- 21 guns has to do with the 21 gun salute the military gives whenever a soldier dies---- a soldier can be used as just a symbol to represent someone fighting for something ONE being the person he's talking to -- 21 guns and one together means your killing yourself and you know it or should know it - your going to be giving yourself your own 21 gun salute either figuratively or literally -- and you and I implying that he too--the singer-- has been in a similar situation to the person the song addresses -- you and should heed to the same advice the chorus provides.

But although the song can be taken in general to mean many things worth or not worth fighting for, I believe it is slanted towards someone that you care about --- someone close to you --- that you want to be with but know you should just go on and not fight for them, because if you do get what you want it will work out to be really bad for you. Or possibly you don't know or should know this and the singer is asking you these questions to make you think...

"Do you know what's worth fighting for,
When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins"

The chorus is saying you should just surrender

The break :

Did you try to live on your own
When you burned down the house and home?
Did you stand too close to the fire?
Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone

The 1st 3 lines I think has to do with trying to forget and move on but its hard to do when all the things that used to really matter(your house and home as a symbol) is centered around this person you are trying to work out things with who is not listening to you--- "asking forgiveness from a stone" --and you're lying to yourself that you really feel you are at fault about things not working out----- you should just move on - quit fighting surrender.... "Like a liar looking for forgiveness from a stone"
