it's about alex's dead brother. It's a mixture of sadness and anger, and I think it's kind of beautiful. He's mad at his brother for leaving him behind, but beneath all that anger he's just really, really sad. I think it sounds like suicide, but what do I know? I can't imagine losing my brother, it would literally kill me. I hope I'll never be able to relate that much to this song. |

I think she really hurt him, and he's pissed and just wants to get back at her. So he makes her fall in love with him, and then breaks his heart. The meaning/message of this song isn't very good, I just like it because it's pretty funny. "There's nothing surgery can do, when I break your little heart in two." |

I am actually in love with this song. I think the lyrics are awesome and everyone can relate. In the first verse he finds this girl, just when he thought there was nothing good left in the world he finds someone so perfect and beautiful. When he tells this story, they are broken up. But the first verse is about them meeting, he picks that beautiful flower up. And the chorus tells exactly how it feels when you lose that flower. Then in the second verse, the story about their relationship goes on. He realizes that he's not the best for her (the flower is withering, it needs to be down in the ground to survive). So he puts her back in the dirt so she can live again, which means that he breaks up with her because he knew he wasn't good for her. And though it is killing him to leave her, he loves her enough to walk away. So now, he can't sleep. He misses her. She made him believe in angels. And he just wants to be with her again. It's painful when you really want to be with someone but you can't, because you'll only hurt her. |

I think the first verse says a lot as well. This person is flying on paper wings, but then hey burn up in the atmosphere. I think it means that he takes the leap when he shouldn't, it's doomed to fail. And when his wings burn up, he falls. And then he kind of stops trying, since he failed the first time he's afraid to try again. But he's wasting his potential by not giving it another shot, because he could have been great. And people are getting sick of it... that's just how I see it |

this song isn't criticizing soldiers, it is criticizing war. I believe that they are trying to tell people that even though the soldiers do it for a good cause, there's nothing heroic about war. Yes, you might save your friends and defend your country, but when you kill people doing it, is "the good cause" really enough? And when you come home with all those pictures inside your head, when you have to watch everything you did every night in your dreams, you can't help but wonder why people say you're a hero. Rise Against is trying to say that people never think about all the bad things this soldier has done, they only see his medals, his scars, and they call him a hero. Yes, soldiers might be heroic from times to times, but war is never heroic, and that's what soldiers do. They go to war. These lyrics should definetly be on a "greatest lyrics of all time" top list. |

this song is so beautiful, and I love it so much! I think it's pretty obvious what it's about. The girl he's singing about is a very busy person who has a billion ideas of what she will do in her life and big dreams and plans of how to succeed. But that's pretty much all she thinks about, so she doesn't realixe that somebody loves her, and waiting for her to make a plan to love him back. And though he likes her, he's not gonna waste his life loving her if she won't: "life's too short death doesn't ask I don't owe you that" and he wants her to realize what she has, cause if she doesn't, she's going to lose it. "some things you lose you don't get back so just know what you have" and then in the end of the song, he makes up his mind: if she won't ever love him back, he won't "be a fool" and keep on loving her. "do what you feel whatever is cool but I just have to ask will you make a plan to love me sometime soon?" |

Haha, I love these lyrics :D but I don't like the song very much though... but it it pretty sad in a way, cause even though the boy is done with that other girl, she wrote on his heart "with permanent maker", and he's not really over her. And the girl is trying to get him back . |

this song is so touching, cause I've been feeling this way for so long I think all of her songs are easy to relate to, and that makes them like a thousand times better. this song is pretty much about this guy that she really liked, and he's just playing around with her, and it's killing her.he keeps hurting her over and over again, and finally she's had enough, but since she cares about him it's hard to just let him go. and she just doesn't get why he's doing this to her it reminds me so much my to best friends, we were so close, but now I'm feeling like I don't even know them. one day they told me they loved me and that the three of us would be best friends forever, and the next day I felt like I was only disturbing them & they only wanted to be alone. it broke my heart, and I'm so sad and so angry with them.
