it's funny you say that... because i always interpreted this song as a song about lust and cheating. love is somewhere in there too. i always thought that the "I called and called, but I can't get through, said he's on his own, but his own is you" was implying that he called a friend who was with the girl he loved/lusted after. that this girl loved him for everything he was, he pushed her away, and wishes he didn't, and then she's with his friend. something perhaps not that literal... but definitely that tragic. |
