I wouldn't say that the lyrics suck. Just because they aren't very ambiguous or some work of a master poet doesn't mean they aren't good. Lyrics are poetry, literally, but in a technical sense they have a very different role. With lyrics, the actual poetry is no good if it doesn't fit the music. I believe Emmure did an excellent job of fitting lyrics to their music. It works. I also get a different vibe from this than the comments I have read. I don't see this as an "oh we're going out, not going out, staying together, etc." kind of song at all. I get a much more sinister vibe from it. It sounds like she's cheated and lied to him and up until now he's put up with it, but now he's fed up with her games, and he's punishing her. Maybe literally he's punishing her by staying because she hates him, but, just from the lyrics and video alone, it seems like he's torturing or killing her. The lines "You ask me "when is it over?"/Over? This isnt over till I say its over." sound pretty serial killer-ish to me. But that's just my take on it. Another thing; if you hate a band so much and you think they're all fagots or whatnot, then why do you spend your precious time bashing their lyrics on a lyric site? Why even look them up? Personally, I hate the Jonas Brothers. Do I go around calling them fagots on forums? No. I have better things to do. Your comments just make YOU look stupid. I'm not trying to attack you at all, I'm just saying. |

Well as far as that line goes, I always thought he was saying "I said I'd never let you fall, and I always maintained." But "and I always meant it" sounds fine, as well. This song, to me, is about a relationship that's falling apart, or has fell apart and he still loves her. It sounds like other people broke them apart: "they've got me on the outside looking in" (as in outside the relationship). He is basically just trying to get her to see that he's always been there for her and that he always will be. He's telling her that even though he makes mistakes, or stumbles, he'll always love her and always catch her when she falls ("with the weight of the world on my shoulders, they just want to see me fall"; I'm inferring that he slipped up, or else why would he write the song?). Basically, over all, I think that people caused a rift between them, because of rumours or something, and he slipped up, but he will always love her, and he just wishes that she'd believe him over them, because "they" are obviously fickle and liars, and he's always been there for her, unlike them. Amazing song =] I can relate. A lot. |
