The Chemical Brothers – Where Do I Begin Lyrics 13 years ago
This is a little different from everyone else's. I think instead of it being about an affair or a one-night stand, the "don't even know who's bed I'm in" could refer to feeling like you don't know yourself anymore; your bed doesn't feel like yours, or the person (that is yourself) in your bed isn't someone you recognize anymore. So where do you begin to figure out your life and what to do when you're not even sure who you are anymore?

I really like your interpretation of the song, it made me look at it differently. So, thanks! :)

I think Jailers might refer to the keepers of her mind; she has a secret that's coming undone, because all of the jailers that imprisoned it in her mind are dead.

Ladytron – Ghosts Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree: the ghost doesn't match up if her apology is simply polite, or if she feels no regret, unless the ghost is supposed to imply that this song is about the past.

I believe the ghost is herself from before, that somewhere inside her she has lingering regrets, due to his present circumstances, but she doesn't regret what she's done because of where she is at in life when writing this song.

The fact that it's a ghost could also mean she's haunted from these possible regrets; the haunting isn't suffocating her, hardly, she's actually quite disconnected from it, but those possible regrets will always be with her.

Jimmy Eat World – Softer Lyrics 15 years ago
Maybe it's not meaningful, but technically nothing is meaningful other than what we as individuals make of it. It's interesting to see how a song is interpreted or envisioned when listened to, hence why this song is about a boy in love as well as pills as well as nothing at all.

I think he's in love with a girl, but he's not bitter toward her.

She's "amazing in her own way" but I don't think she realizes how he feels for her, hence why she's "always moving to a better place"; she's not aware of herself or her effect on him as much as he is, who is infatuated completely and silently suffering for it.

I can see how the medicine and "time heals nothing by itself" line would imply he's bitter, but I think he's simply incapable of getting over her; he loves her, there is no question, since "she's perfect in her own way", perfect in his eyes.

"She looks a little bit different now" but that doesn't change how he feels, and perhaps he had intentions to meet her at this place in order to see how much she's changed, to be sure she wouldn't be the girl he's in love with. But it makes no difference, since he notices specifically her eyes, which is considered a window to the person's soul, it shows that she's changed but his feelings have not or will not.

Last, the most confusing for me, the long stanzas about "slower, make it softer" and "easy, likes it nice and steady" sound sexual, but also dreamy. Perhaps he's daydreaming about being with her, this whole night for him being slow and soft and timeless as he watches her from afar or nearby.

I don't know where they would be, possibly a reunion or concert, a chance meeting would contribute to the dream idea since it doesn't seem real.

The Kills – Last Day of Magic Lyrics 16 years ago
I felt it's about two people who love each other, however they haven't done anything about it and now they're running out of time; one of them is leaving. She wants a "last day of magic" with her "hurricano" before they are "two parties ending". The references to storms reminds me of a frantic panic for each other, for that last moment before they can no longer do it. "I'll be the man with the broom if you'll be the guts of the room" as in she'll catch him and make him face her and his feelings "Because there's only so much you can hide before I corner you". This interpretation isn't as chaotic/angry as the song's specific interpretation really is.

Toadies – Away Lyrics 16 years ago
The speaker is God, not a man who's being stalked.

He's portraying God like a human, someone who "shivers" at the dependency placed on him, and hope is "where I'm goin'", as in that's what he's striving for. God is not immaculate or celestial, but rather just as human as those that believe in him (so he's portrayed). He has no ultimate jurisdiction or god-like presence.

Even when people don't believe in him ("when I'm away") he still believes in Heaven; either it shows the power in human belief and faith, or it mocks people who believe in an afterlife because their Heaven is seperated from the one man who determines their entrance.

However, God says "Go right in"; Might show that anyone, everyone deserves a ticket into paradise, not just the forever faithful or never-been believers. Again, maybe to mock overly religious and atheist people.
