Regardless whatever topic you are using this song or any song for that matter for whether its religion, relationship, inner strength, ect. this song proves tool are brilliant! they don't pigeon-hole themselves into a certain topic in this song (not that its bad to do that in a song i like how they use this alternative though) it can be used for everyone no matter what they're looking for. they let the listener interpret they're wisdom, strength, and guidance to the listener's own situation. my personal opinion...it's hard to pull off a great song that pigeon-holes themselves into something unless you're a band like slayer! |

each and every one of us that has had our ears graced with dime's music...especially this song is blessed. definetly phil's emotion's toward an ex-girlfriend that passed is the meaning of this tune. pantera were meant to be...they just had that chemistry that no other human beings will probably ever have like they did. its just a shame that their ride had to end so quickly. |

evidently you don't know the true definition of emo or. some of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time have had that one or more very strong and melodic ballad of some kind. ozzy - mama, i'm coming home/pantera - cemetery gates/ BLS - the last goodbye/ it doesn't have to be in your face, heavy as hell, a million miles an hour throughout the whole album. let alone throughout some bands whole career. i've discovered that these kinds of songs are sometimes the most honest songs from the band. a true metal head can smell an emo kid a mile away. like corey said in an interview...if your not going to evolve you won't gain anything. keep in mind, evolving does not mean selling out. one artist will never please everyone. |

vinnie and dime. "there is more between the sky and earth that is beyond our philosophy" for dime. then the rest of the song makes me think of phil sending a message to vinnie. |

it makes me think of how far pantera had come as a band and the success they had achieved. and now that they are no more...this is to me what dime and vinnie felt at that point in their life |

I agree pantera9296. people should interpret lyrics however they want, or else music would be boring if you didn't use your imagination. to me i felt dime and vinnie's pain during the pantera hiatus when they were waiting on rex and phil to make a move and figure out what was the fate of pantera. it is exactly what i would feel like if i were in dime or vinnie's shoes during that time |

Moving on.... it is a pretty obvious tune to anyone that has hit rock bottom or their low down. the way i related to burt's words were feeling disconnected to your surroundings and the one's you love. almost like you feel you've reached the end of the line and there is no way out. like your doomed to live depressed and lonely forever. incredible song! |

Layne Staley through and through. basically it's jerry saying what he has to say to layne about his addiction and wanting to move past all of that. it's a shame heroin had to get the better of the greatest singer of all-time in my personal opinion. but the original Alice In Chains tunes will live forever. |

is it not spooky to anyone else that pepper was asking for a cleansing in this song then hurricane katrina comes along. philip anselmo said in an interview that in greek the word katrina stands for a cleansing. which eventually led to the reunion of down. |

on the new cd/dvd compilation "skullage" zakk said it was about a friend of his that was deprressed. and it was around the time pantera were on the verge of officialy breaking up that this song was made. to me it sounds like dime and vinnie's feeling of the state of pantera at the time and their feelings toward pantera frontman philip anselmo. with zakk and dime being best friends i think zakk decided he wanted to have a song about that particular situation. i'm sure to your average person they would think it was about a broken heart over some girl. |

People can interpret it however they want. but when i listen to this song it just screams layne staley to me. "my eyes are whey, ain't nothings the same." cuz i think shortly before layne's death he realized that the damage was already done and he was too far gone to save himself from his heroin addiction. if it is...outstanding tribute. |
