its about creating a band (the brotherhood). But them not getting anywhere. The Captian who im guessing would be the singer or the band founder. Follow your dreams, because if you don't try, you fail. So if you dream of being a musician and becoming famous but dont try, you basically fail. Which Silverstein did, they tried and didnt fail showing that it is possible. Then the rest of the song is about the band starting to get uneasy because they arent getting the fame that the founder thought they would. The new resources they were searching for to make life easier and more enjoyable would be the money they would get from the fame.
