I LOVE this song! I've been listening to it nonstop since I got the new album. I think what the song means is he's pissed about a breakup. I think I read somewhere that wiL had a pretty painful breakup around the time they would have been working on the album. You can tell from the lyrics, "carved your name into my skin, in candlelight, sew it up with hate" and "a whole life indebted to you". The lyrics are brilliant. They must of gotten like straight A's in english. Wow. And wiL is so hot. lol Betsy |

| Silverstein – My Heroine Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Ok, this is just my personal interpretation, I could be right or wrong... The drugs begin to peak A smile of joy arrives in me (He's metaphorically high and feeling the effects-He's "high" on his love for the girl) But sedation changes to panic and nausea And breath starts to shorten And heartbeats pound softer (He's now feeling the negative effects of the high/relationship) You won't try to save me You just want to hurt me, and leave me desperate (He's realizing that all the drug/girl is doing is hurting him) You taught my heart a sense I never knew I had (Getting high has positive and negative effects. The sense could be either a positve or negative result of the relationship) I can't forget the times that I was lost and depressed from the awful truth (He thought he would be able to move on from his past by using a drug/girlfriend, but he's realizing that he's just covering up his emotions and not truly getting over them) How do you do it? (he is asking her how she can look so good on the outside, but deep down, she's hurtful) You're my heroine (He is comparing her to the drug heroin. I think the heroin/heroine thing IS a pun) You won't leave me alone (He feels like he can't escape the addiction) Chisel my heart out of stone I give in everytime. (Not really sure about this part...) You taught my heart a sense I never knew I had I can't forget the times that I was lost and depressed from the awful truth How do you do it? You're my heroine I bet you laugh at the thought of me thinking for myself (Again, she is like a drug in the way that drugs control your judgement and thinking) I bet you believe that I'm better off with you than someone else (She is glorifying herself by thinking that she's the best for him, when she knows she's just hurting him) Your face arrives again, a hope I had becomes surreal (He's trying to get over the addiction, but he gets a "craving") But under your covers, more torture than pleasure (This could either be taken sexually or as if he's saying deep down, you're a bad person. For this interpretation the 2nd idea would probably make more sense) And just past your lips, there's more anger than laughter Not now or forever will I ever change you I know that to go on, I'll break you my habit (This whole section he's realizing all the negative things about the drug/girl) You taught my heart a sense I never knew I had I can't forget the times that I was lost and depressed from the awful truth How do you do it? You're my heroine I will save myself (He doesn't need her to get over his past. He will break the habit and get over it himself, the right way.) **Note- When I say drug/girl I don't mean drug or girl, I'm just showing how he keeps comparing the girl to the drug and either way would make sense, but we know he's using a metaphor. |

| Escape the Fate – The Day I Left The Womb Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Mother, where are you today? You took a piece of me the day you went away No recollection or the smell of your perfume I took a piece of you the day I left the womb Brother, put your needles down The best thing for you is to leave this awful town Pretty soon, you'll have kids to feed If you see mother, tell her I can sing Please don't worry, I am doing fine You're much too busy to even find the time So use your chemicals and take this to your grave The boys you left are men you didn't raise And Daddy, how are you today? You must be proud of the boys that you have raised Your withered heart and everything it's seen Your cuts and calloused hands you had kids to feed You had kids to feed Please don't worry, I am doing fine You're much too busy to even find the time So use your chemicals and take this to your grave The boys you left are men you didn't raise As for the meaning, I totally agree with Unearth77. But going even deeper- Even if the lyrics didn't say any of the parent's characteristics, you can still tell that he feels closer to his dad than his ma, by him calling his ma "Mother", but calling his dad "Daddy". I think that's really cool how they did that. I love this song. It's so sad just because all that shit happened, but also because I can totally relate to it. I love the old Escape The Fate. I don't like them without Ronnie Radke. Anyone know if he's out of jail yet, or when he's supposed to get out? |

| Hawthorne Heights – Wake Up Call Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is actually not about love at all. "Funny story. This song is about being insecure of my musicianship. I knew my lyrics were going to get drilled (and I was right again). It is easy to trash something at first glance. People are either going to love something or hate it these days. I wish there was no such thing as a critic, but I myself am one (hypocrite, hahaha). "Say so long, say goodnight, and just hold out your hand to catch me if I fall." This is pretty much saying if you think you can do it better, go ahead and do it. But, be prepared to show me your work as well. If you don't like it, don't listen to it. It's as easy as that. Don't make someone feel bad to make yourself feel better." -JT Woodruff | |
| Hawthorne Heights – Ohio Is for Lovers Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Ok, just to clear everything up, this is what JT says in the cd booklet. "First of all, "Cut my wrists and black my eyes," is a figure of speech. Hawthorne Heights is strongly against suicide in any form. During the recording sessions, I remember everyone arguing with their girlfriends. This rarely happens. It must have been a full moon or something, but serioiusly each one of our girlfriends were mad at the same thing. We weren't in Ohio (and we weren't going to be for a long time). We were working 15 hours a day on our album and we all just wanted to sleep. I wrote the lyrics to this song solely in tribute to our girlfriends. I knew we were going to be putting them through a lot in the next year, so this is my get out of jail free card. There is no mistaking it. This song is about our girlfriends, who live in Ohio." | |

I think the ecstasy theory could be correct. The video looks like they're at a wild party. another cigarette and I'm so bored your words aren't making sense (A lot of people smoke when they drink and some drugs cause you to feel bored because they make you wanna be up and doing something, and being high could explain why "your words aren't making sense) I was taken but you were waiting one more drink and I'm convinced (Some one is waiting for him but he's having too much fun at the party) not one more sound let your hair down take the low road no one will know (He's telling someone to relax and use whatever drugs he is. taking the low road could symbolize using the easy remedy) whoa, I feel just like we're taking control of the night (When you first get high you feel on top of the world) whoa, i feel just like we're losing control but if you let go then I'll let go tonight (Then later you realize you don't have control of yourself and he's saying to the other person that they're in this together) another minute lived if you take me I'll take what you will give (he's talking to the drug) i was late and she kept waiting but i hope she knows where I've been (he wants the girl that was waiting for him to know because the drugs make him not care) not one more sound let your hair down take the low road no one will know whoa, i feel just like we're taking control of the night whoa, i feel just like we're losing control but if you let go then I'll let go tonight I'm coming down bring me up take it off let's just touch (This kind of sounds like he's hallucinating or something) whoa, i feel just like we're taking control of the night whoa, i feel just like we're losing control but if you let go then I'll let go tonight |

| Hawthorne Heights – Disaster Lyrics | 16 years ago |

*CORRECTION* How should I say That I never wanted anything to change If I rearrange the pieces of A broken down faith Do you believe in me Because I'm not sure I believe in anything, anymore Pick up the pieces and Make me understand Why we can't move any faster Losing all demand I've broken all my plans This year was a disaster What should I do When I never thought anything would come true The solution for the broken down abuse I'm waiting for the fading floor To let me fall on through I'm getting closer to letting go, letting go of you Pick up the pieces and Make me understand Why we can't move any faster Losing all demand I've broken all my plans This year was a disaster What you don't know (I walked on the ledge) Will only make this worse What you don't know (I saw the edge of my future) Will only make this worse What you don't know (Being held back by the past) Will only make this worse What you don't know Will only make this worse Pick up the pieces and Make me understand Why we can't move any faster Losing all demand I've broken all my plans This year was a disaster Pick up the pieces and Make me understand Why we can't move any faster Losing all demand I've broken all my plans This year was a disaster I HEART Hawthorne Heights!!!
