I like the underlying simile of comparing their current relationship to that of two brothers sharing a hotel bed. They are together out of necessity, but there remains a certain distance and awkwardness, so they turn apart from each other to supress these uncomfortable elements. Why are they growing apart? Time has worn them down. They are physically and emotionally exhausted. |
