i think the usage of the word "beautiful" is meant to have mocking undertones. have you ever said something to someone, for example how beautiful they are, and when the relationship is over, you look back and feel a pang of hurt? therefore the writer overuses the word beautiful to make it lose it's meaning... kind of like "you were nothing special".. trying to convince yourself you're ok. |

i don't know if it's been mentioned but the title of this song always reminded me of "the boy with a thorn in his side" by the Smiths. no clue if there's any correlation, but we know Jesse is a fan of Morrissey/ the Smiths. |
