I think it's about drugs. When I first listened to the lyrics, it was like...whoa, I can totally relate to this. I mean, just chemicals and shit in general. "I made my decision Lead a path of self-destruction "It's like...when you tell yourself you're going to quit something cause you know it's bad for you, but then...you realize- you're probably better off with it. "I'm on a roll No self-control I'm blowing off steam With meth-amphetamine" ON A ROLL- meaning, momentum...meaning, what he's doing then...is feelin' good. It might be bad, but he's got no control to stop it (but the attitude of this song makes it seem like he just doesn't fucking WANT to stop it) the rest of the song just fits in with all that... I seriously think it's about drugs. |

Obvious stab at..well, not exactly God.. But religion...and the politics of it. Also, kinda seems like Christian is rallying.. He's getting people pumped, getting people to join his cause. Stuff like that. |

Someone described this song as creepy. And I think that's a great way of describing it- and I love it, haha. Anyways, seems like Christian's kinda song of..."the last straw". He's ready to revolt. "I am the atom bomb I am the chosen one Toxin your reservoir And then return man to ape" - He's the leader? He's the DESTROYER of the "Modern Age" (Atom bomb..) and the CHOSEN one. He's the toxin in their reservoir...and he's living in a modern hell. He's ready to shut these people up and do something about it. I mean...just listen to it- he's fucking angry. Then it leads into Last Night On Earth- which kinda sounds like he's made his decision to do something about it... and he's writing a letter to Gloria explaining he's still there..blahblahloveloveblahblah, yeah.. haha, good song. |

So, sung from Gloria's point of view... This song seems to be after some kind of protest or...riot. And, Gloria seems to be kinda second guessing herself in joining this kind of revolution. Not really...that it's wrong, but it seems like their attempts are..."useless", but the cause isn't completely hopeless or hopeless. I mean, this is their last hope? THIS is the last call? It's kinda pathetic. She feels useless and...well, yeah..pathetic. Maybe she doesn't feel as strongly about the whole thing as Christian does. He's balling his eyes out in a bathroom, and she doesn't wanna confront him...she just wants a cigarette, haha. And all they keep doing is getting drunk and high, and..it's pathetic. I think I use that word too much.. |

I'm probably wrong.. I always think of religion when I listen to this song.. It just seems like whoever's point of view it's from...they've stopped believing in something. "Dreaming I was only dreaming Of another place and time Where my family's from Singing I can hear them singing When the rain had washed away All these scattered dreams" and the the brutality of reality...it's like, believing something for a long time, and then you realize it's was all wrong. Now, lobotomy..means to literally cut connections in the brain, and as a result, the "patients must sacrifice some of the virtue, of the driving force, creative spirit or soul." A lobotomy also cuts off the part of the brain that tells right from wrong.. So, losing what you believe in? Religion? I dunno.. AWESOME SONG, THOUGH! |
