| Heaven Shall Burn – Endzeit Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| In essence, this song is about bringing down corrupt governments and rising up in some sort of anarchist revolution. A lot of melodeath bands have similar ideologies, Arch Enemy for example. Apparently, the band stated that there's an underlying abstract concept on the "Iconoclast" albums that revolves around God being killed, and his followers hunting down and killing his murderers. But I suspect that's just a metaphor of some kind. | |

This has got to be about Hiroshima/Nagasaki. The band themselves are known for being very anti-war, so it makes sense that they'd be on the "war crime" side of the debate. Lyrical analysis: "Their shadows burnt into the walls" - after the bombings, the silhouettes of victims were actually burnt into the walls, such is the immense heat of an atomic explosion. "So many lives reduced to ashes/so many homes razed to the ground" - comments on the massive scale of the loss of life and destruction caused by the bombs. "A shine like from a thousand suns" - the light-flash from a nuclear explosion can be blinding. 'Like a thousand suns' is how the weapon's developers described it. "Betrayed by their proud leaders" - the pride of the Japanese leaders made them refuse to surrender, and their people payed the price. "And executed by atrocious enemies" - denounces the Allies for their unnecessary use of the bombs, thus massacring innocents. "So many homes, so many lives" a repetition of lyrics from first verse, same meaning. "A sense of guilt should rise" - states that the western people should feel remorse for the bombings. "A thousand books all full with vindications/simple explanations and coloured declarations" - all the American history books are full of arguments and debates justifying the bombs' use, but these are all "coloured" by lies and exaggerations to hide the crime. "Where silent sense of guilt should rise, but a victor's story cannot lie" - The old quote 'history is written by the victors'. Propaganda and lies cause the western people feel no guilt or remorse for what they did. "One modest truth they teach their children/Again, a victor's story, it cannot lie!" - The previous generation lie to their children and justify their act of genocide. "See these branded generations/Hear, their bells are tolling/Hear, hear them calling" - Not certain about this one, but it may refer to the fact that the Japanese people are still suffering from the effects of the bombs' fallout generations on. I think the meaning of this song is fairly obvious, and I have to say that I agree with it. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were war crimes and should be acknowledged as such. |

Fuck you, racist cunt. He's not talking about race. He's talking about good and evil. He's arguing that there is no "grey zone" and that you're either good or evil - if you're not good then you're evil, no inbetween. But I'll tell you what is evil - you and your views on multiculturalism. If you want to be nothing more than a worthless piece of racist, fucking Nazi filth then be my guest. But don't post your vile hateful shit online, or try to twist the lyrics of this song to suit your own fucked up beliefs. You talk about sticking by your own "kind." Well let me tell you, every single person in this world, regardless of race, religion, nationality or sexuality, is a brother or sister to me. Everyone except you and your "kind." The kind of people who allow their disgraceful, pathetic and disgusting influences to infect and pollute the world - your words do nothing more than create conflict, suffering, hatred and death. I hope you go to hell where you and others like you belong, and I wish upon you the most slow and painful death possible. Fuck you. |

| Protest the Hero – Bloodmeat Lyrics | 16 years ago |

And I think Nurjan may have been another name for Genghis Khan, in case anyone is wondering. Or it may possibly reference his conquest of the Middle East, as Nurjan is an Islamic name. And the meaning of "a thousand virgin daughters spread" is simple: Its talking about how the Mongol warriors raped and brutalised the wives and daughters of their enemies. |

Oh come on people! The meaning of this song is obvious. Its not got any hidden metaphorical message; its about Genghis Khan and his conquest of Eurasia - plain and simple. (In very clearly says: "Genghis Khan is upon us.") It describes the events of the Mongol Conquest, from the points of view of both the Conquerer and the Conquered. Now if you haven't heard of Ghengis Khan, then you're quite frankly an idiot. But if this is the case, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genghis_Khan |

| KoЯn – Evolution Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I'm digging with my fingertips I'm digging at the ground I stand upon I'm searching for fragile bones (Evolution) Meaning: A reference to fossils, and how they provide evidence for the theory of Evolution. I'm never gonna be refined Keep trying but I won't assimilate Sure we have come far in time (Watch the bow break) Meaning: Refers to how religions all want us to be refined and to "assimilate" (implying that they want to control us.) "Sure we have come far in time" might refer to how society and technology have advanced over time, allowing us to uncover the true explanations for our existence; this suggests that religion has become obsolete in the face of science. And I'm sorry I don't believe By the evidence that I see That there's any hope left for me Meaning: States that there is no real evidence for the existence of God, suggesting that there's no hope for mankind. Its Evolution Just Evolution Meaning: We are here due simply to the process of Evolution. And I I do not dare deny The basic beast inside Its right here It's controlling my mind Meaning: Refers to how Humans are really just intelligent animals, and that are actions are driven by their animal instincts. And why Do I deserve to die I'm dominated by This animal that's locked up inside Meaning: Refers to how religions condemn the actions of those they consider to be "unrefined." Suggests that they have no right to do this, as people's actions are driven by their instincts. Close up to get a real good view I'm betting that the species will survive Hold tight I'm getting inside you (Evolution) Meaning: May reference the use of microscopes in scientific study; this implies that technology provides explanations for Evolution and our species' survival. "Hold tight I'm getting inside you" may be a none too subtle reference to sex, and how science shows us that sexual reproduction is key in explaining the Evolution process. And when we're gonna find these bones They're gonna want to keep them in a jar The number one virus caused by (Procreation) Meaning: A further reference to scientific study. This may also suggest that the rate at which the Human species is multiplying through procreation is a threat to our planet, and in a sense we are a "virus." And the planet may go astray In a million years they'll say Those mother fuckers were all deranged Meaning: Implies that religion leads people astray, and that in a million years, a more advanced Human race will see us as having been stupid or primitive for believing in religion. It May also suggest that our descendents will look on us as having been insane, for destroying and polluting our planet. [It's Evolution] [Just Evolution] [Chorus] Take a look around Nothing much has changed [Repeated] Meaning: States that the evidence for Evolution and againtst God is all around us, and that all we have to do is "take a look around" to discover the truth. [Chorus] In summary, this song discusses: 1. The evidence for the theory of Evolution. 2. The evidence against the existence of God. 3. The way in which religion has become outdated and obsolete in preference of Science. 4. The way in which the actions of the Human species is damaging our planet. However, this is only my personal interpretation. It could be completely wrong. |

| Scar Symmetry – Artificial Sun Projection Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think its about how our gods and religions, which are merely deceptive inventions and illusions, cause us to ignorantly accept the religious explanations for the universe, halting our active minds. This makes us unwilling to seek alternative answers to ultimate questions, preventing us from fully experiencing all the mystery and wonder of the universe, and discovering the revelations that science has to offer us. However, I don't think that its necessarily an atheistic song. It doesn't condemn the concept of God, but suggests that blind belief in religious teachings stunts mankind's development. It is possible to believe in both God and Science, but just like the rest of civilisation, religion must change, develop and adapt as the human race becomes more advanced. As the Sun is the "giver of life" for our planet, the "Artificial Sun" may be a metaphor for God, and "No alteration" may reference the reluctance of religious believers to alter and adapt their beliefs and teachings, or possibly mankind's lack of development. |
