my intrpretation of this song is that the swan is this artists model "Perched. Canvas Draped..." the swan and the artist used to be lovers but are not anymore "memories. two beasts naked" the artist, in a fit of frustration over his feelings for the swan throws a vase "he picked up a large, white vase and pitched it. "of the man that pulled at my feathers" could be a sexual metaphor. The swan is conflited. The swan knows it is beautiful but wonders if it can feel "i the swan am beautiful and phallic canvas draped can i feel?" As for the whole "i the swan am a desist between being and idea" could be refering to the model idea that i talked about before because models are the halfway poin between an idea of creation and an idea becoming art. Idk just some ideas. |
