I agree that these lyrics are pretentious. They are just jumping on the bandwagon of what it is currently trendy to hate. While complacency often accompanies religion in bad situations, the same would be true of many worldviews (anti-religious communism in Stalin's Russia comes to mind). "With microwave transmissions they bombard us every day...." REALLY?! Why don't you cry over the "pain" of fallen trees while you're at it, hippie. I don't mind criticism of religion that is reasonable, but "pretentious" is the perfect word for these lyrics. |
