| Amy Mcdonald – Mr Rock N Roll Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
No comments? =O This is a wonderful wonderful song! As far interpretation goes, I think it's about people who would be perfect for each other, pass each other by, either because they're too cool being 'Mr Rock n' Roll' or just by making the wrong choice. The couples in the verses pair up, Mr Rock n' roll with Rock Chick of the Century and Mrs Black and White with Mr Multicultural. It's quite sad when you think about it, but I could be wrong =P |

| Tom Waits – Romeo Is Bleeding Lyrics | 15 years ago |

A fantastic song! You can almost see Romeo in your mind's eye :) Anyway, for Guffle, Spanish is as follows: Andele pues! [Come on, let's go!]. Hey Pachuco! [Hey jerk!]. Hago la lucha! [I'll take you on!]. Dáme esa pistola, hombre! [Give me that pistol, man!]. Hijo de la chingada madre! [You son of a fucking whore!]. Ay, que pinche pancho! [Oh, what a fucking wimp!]. Vamos a dormir, hombre [Let's go to sleep, man] Cited by http://www.tomwaitslibrary.com/lyrics/bluevalentine/romeoisbleeding.html :) Hope that helps |

I adore this song, it never seems to be out of my head :D Personally, I agree with Lucy_In_The_Sky: the badness is gone, the pain, boredom, sadness, whatever it's over and it's time to move on =) It always puts me in a good mood when everything is going wrong =) |

| Bruce Springsteen – Born in the U.S.A. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love how so many people get the meaning of this song completely wrong!! I've seen tagged under "The greatest patriotic anthems of all time" ¬_¬; I worry about some people. Basically, I haven't got much else to say that's different from the people above only that I don't think it's patriotic; Bruce is trying to explain the sheer pointlessness of Vietnam and the devastating effects it had on the soldiers that fought in. I think it also refers to "Generation X" as it were, with "nowhere to run and nowhere to go" I think he uses "Born in the USA" less in pride and more a "And there's nothing I can do" kind of way Awesome song though ^_^ The Demo version on 18 tracks gives you more of an idea what he's trying to say with the lyrics http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Born_In_The_U_S_A_/22954007 |

| Black Sabbath – N.I.B. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is easily my favourite Sabbath song, as far I'm concerned they started the metal trend, the rest all just pretenders to the throrne ;) I guess I have to agree with most of the other posters that it's about the devil falling in love, or falling in love with the devil. Strangly it always reminds me of vampires too ^_^; |

| Linkin Park – Runaway Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
One of my favourites off Hybrid Theory ^_^; I particularly like the 1st Verse. The song itself is pretty easy to understand but the lyrics used are, I think anyway, are pretty poetic in describing things. I.e "Graffiti Decorations" = tatoos? "Paper Bags" = Hyperventilating? I think the general idea behind it is someone running away from their parents/family seen in "The lessons that you taught me" and "guilty by association" But feel free to correct me ^^; |

| T. Rex – Solid Gold Easy Action Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Well...Um Sex is the obvious theme, looks like not all of Marc's song's are poetry eh? Don't get me started on "All my head will keep her smiling" ;) However, an interesting fact/link whatever you want to call it ^^; The Car that Marc Bolan died in had the Registration Plate FOX 661L, and crashed into a tree, now that throws a disturbing light on "Picking Foxes from a tree" doesn't it? |

| Bruce Springsteen – Dancing In The Dark Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"I was dancing when I was 12" comes from a Marc Bolan & T-Rex Song called Cosmic Dancer (See here -> http://www.songmeanings.net/songs/view/42446/) Could your version could be a live version that's about to lead into Cosmic Dancer? *shrug* |

| Bruce Springsteen – Mrs. McGrath Lyrics | 16 years ago |

What a fantastic song! The Live in Dublin Version of this is stunning, I was ended up completely still listning to every word ^^ Obviously Anti-War and quite rightly so, I think the last verse is very telling |

| Superb xD Bloody class! Fuck Bush =P | |
| Levellers – One Way Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
What a fantastic song! I think this pretty much dragged me through High School! The main message is pretty clear "There's only one way of life, and that's your own" which couldn't be truer. It's about growing up and breaking out, for example the 1st verse is about not wanting to end up like your parents "Well he never was in his lifetime/But these words stuck with me" nobody wants to end up trapped like their parents. Also the second verse covers adolescence "all my friends and all their jobs, all the bloody waste" that's being stuck in a dead end job whilst at high school/college/uni and how bloody pointless it all feels =P I particularly love the last verse, the "We choked on our dreams We wrestled with our fears/Running through the heartless concrete streets/Chasing our ideas" covers all that day dreaming you do as a teenager ;) Also, there’s the rise of politics ;p Every teen has that revolutionary streak in them ;) The "Circling A's on the under pass" is in relation to the Anarchism symbol but also the "all the problems of the world wont be solved my this guitar and they won’t stop coming either” I think (correct me if I’m wrong) relates to protest singers. And finally (I’ll shut up in second I promise!) the actually moving on “And the bright lights of my home town/Won't be getting any dimmer/Though their calling has receded now…and they don’t look so appealing”. Home’s still there, but you’ve got better things to do now ;) Over all, top notch song :D |

| Levellers – Hope Street Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love this song and ironically there's a "Hope Street" near me that is scarily similar to this =P It's about the desolation you find in slum/council estates in city/urban areas, particularly in the 70-90's with Thatcher (*shudder*) the Miners Strikes etc etc - it tackles everything: Verse 1 - Unemployment (there were 3 million unemployed in the late 70's) verse 2 - Homelessness (repossession was common too, if you couldn't pay) Verse 3 - Gambling Addiction (People turn to it when they have no money) Verse 4 - the "regulars" idea in the pubs / living on a estate Verse 5 - The Useless endeavours of the council to helps "The kids" when it was them who "put them there" in the fist place by not giving them a chance. The "ties of blue" refers to the middle class, council works, civil servant types who just give up on these “down-and-out” types, and “don’t even seem to care” Hehe....in case you couldn't tell I come from a English working/lower middle class background ^_^; so this makes sense to me =P |

| Saliva – Always Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think there are multiple reading sof this song - I've always struggled to pin this one down. Interpretation #1: In a similar vein to what Kalyandra said, perhaps the voice is actually a girl's and the song covers the day she decided to change and get herself out of this abusive situation, i.e: "I see the blood All over your hands Does it make you feel more like a man Was it all Just a part of your plan The pistol shaking in my hands" Also, there are refers to running away "I guess I'll pack all my things", "I pick myself off the floor and now I'm done with you" However, seeing as we know Josey Scott is a GUY, I figured it could be about something else... Interpretation #2: I figured it could also be a about child abuse, too but this one’s a bit more tenuous, seeing as it refers to "desire" and I'm not even getting into how gross that is >.< However, it could be about a kid watching his dad/mum fight and decides to sort it, as in "why would you tear my world apart" But I guess you can get anything out of song like this. |

| Saliva – Weight Of The World Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I love this song! And it's definitely underrated. As far as interpretation goes I think it's about being stuck in a loveless/one-sided relationship. I.e "the way you always make me the last in line" This girl (presumably) obviously doesn't think very much of him, maybe even detests him "trembling" or "pull[ing] away" when he tries to hug her (?). Also, the mention of "going through this life on my own" suggests that he's doing most of the work in this relationship. But also, he seems to be developing the same feelings for her, with "twisted mind" and the fact she's "kill[ing] [him] a little more each day" Basically this horrendous relationship is falling apart around him and he has no idea what to do about it. But that's just my opinion, feel free to disagree :) |

| That's a really interesting interetation! I can see where you're coming from :) | |
| Morrissey – Everyday Is Like Sunday Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think it's about being bored solid and not being able to do much about it. "Every day is like Sunday" refers to the fact that in the 70's all the shops were shut on a Sunday so you couldn't go out, do anything or have any fun - it was just mind-numbingly-tedious! Hence "How I dearly wish I wasn't here" It could also refer to going on Holiday and it being really boring, like going to the seaside in the Rain :) A Very Moz idea ;) |
|
| The Smiths – This Charming Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| "Jumped Up" is an English (more Specifcally Northen/Mancunian Term) that means "to be full of your self" :) If that helps :) | |
| Natalie Imbruglia – Smoke Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I always thought it's about a child who's lost her father in a fire, hence "Where are you Dad?" I don't think she understands what's happened to him, she thinks he was "hiding underneath the smoke in the room" rather than dying, and maybe the "pushing me" could be her mother trying to help her escape...I dunno ^_^; Awesome song tho :) |
