Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics 16 years ago
There a lot of allusions and anti-comparisons to her relationship with Samson and the relationship of biblical
Sampson and Delilah. I love the metaphor she makes of cutting his hair (a willing sacrifice of strength)
and then later in the song referring to not being able to bring the pillars down.

Whether this song is about cancer (as some other posters claim) or just a relationship, she clearly
infers about sacrifices they both make to stay together. It's absolutely beautiful.

I couldn't agree more.

Band of Horses – Is There a Ghost Lyrics 16 years ago
He doesn't live alone because he lives with the ghost now.

Of course this is a very figurative lyric. "Ghost" could be anything that a man could be haunted by. Memories,
nightmares, stress, anxiety, etc.

"House" is probably not literal either, but probably better read as "my mind".

Yes it's simple and repetitive, but sometimes you can say more with less.

I mean look how many comments two lines of lyrics generated.

Or maybe it is a non-sensical song written to display melodic aptitude. Either way this song is well done.

100% agree. This song is about doing whatever it takes to salvage a relationship, not about its failure or its faults.

Band of Horses – Ode to LRC Lyrics 16 years ago
Everyone read MNBZXCV. He (she?) is right. It's about the Little Red Caboose in Washington State.
It's not too hard to believe if you know that Ben Bridewell was previously in Carissa's Wierd, a Seattle
based project.

The town is about the log book and all the stories that the train has "seen" over the years.

And Ben does sing "If" the world is such a wonderful place in live performances, but it doesn't change
the meaning of the song. The song is a statement of obeservations not necessarily of interpretations.

A little dyslexia in my last posting, but you know what I meant.

LRC is the "Learning Resource Center" or library. So Jaytkendall is right. Which makes sense "100 stories sitting there to read, well I knew I'd find something".

Band of Horses – The Funeral Lyrics 16 years ago
I think most people are on the money with the "Fragility of Life" theme.

"At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral" meaning life can end on any given, whether it's your wedding
day, your birthday, or just an ordinary day.

I also think it's a song about waiting too long to get to really know someone.

"And to know you is hard and we wonder
To know you all wrong, we were"

Meaning, we thought we knew you, but we were wrong.

"To know me as hardly golden
Is to know me all wrong, they were"

Meaning people think they know me, are they wrong too?

"Really too late to call, so we wait for
Morning to wake you; it's all we got"

Meaning there's always an excuse not to make the effort now, but now is really all we have.
