I think it could be that maybe a friendship (perfect) between a him and a close friend could have been 'painted red' as in Love that could have changed things dramatically because the 'loves isn't here', anyone in agreement? |

I think that this part is saying about how people "bend over backwards" to be vain he explains in the next verse. So to summarise he is saying that he is constantly going out of his way to see every part of himself but when it comes down to it, its just silly so when you steam up the glass don't get annoyed that you cant be vain just make a laugh of it and draw a funny face and you might just see a "new" you. |

Yes I agree ,, the bending over backwards we normally relate to "going out of our way to do something" so for this reason I think he's saying that he steamed up the glass and instead of getting annoyed that he cant be vain he just lets the mood roll and draw a funny face and have a giggle about it :D |
