You sir are a cock. This song is about the National Guard, not necessarily about the Army. Citizen soldiers are the ones who train to be soldiers but aren't in the Army or any of the other main branches of military. Look up the National Guard's slogan, you will find that it is "Be the ultimate citizen soldier." If that isn't enough evidence to back me up, then you need serious mental help. And think before you try and talkj shit about the military again. It's not nice to piss off a soldier. |

Honestly people, the song is about the National Gaurd. The National Gaurd's slogan is "Be the ultimate citizen soldier." That for one is a dead givaway. The next givaway is "Hope and pray that you never need me But rest assured, I will not let you down I walk beside you, but you may not see me The strongest among you may not wear a crown" meaning that we hope to have to never call on them but in dire times we do, they may be what all you ignorant folk call "weekend-warriors" but they do what they have to and more. They ultimately go above and beyond the call of duty to protect this country's citizens. The ones in the national gaurd wear civilian clothes when they aren't on duty so that's why you wouldn't even notice them if they walk past you on the street, and the last part meaning that they are trained for war or help when natural disasters strike, but they are still citizens in your community. I have been in the Army for 6 years now and I really do take offense when people say that the war is stupid. I have been to Iraq 2 times and Afghanistan once, and all three times i have lost a friend that i was close to. So if you people that think we can just end this war and think it will be alright, what about the soldiers that have died over seas? If we stop now then what they have died doing will be for nothing. Next time you bad talk the armed services, just think how you would feel if you were serving over seas and you lost some of your good friends. What would you do then? It really does make you think and feel what we soldiers are feeling right now. |

This song here is the only song that i can very closely relate to. My life isnt the happy life that i wish it would be. My mother died when i was 11 and my father married a whore that only wanted to get off of food stamps. She hates me more than anything else and she is always trying to get me to fight with her so she can send me to jail. But i never do fight with her and all the while my father said he is going to divorvce her, but he has said that 15 times now. And he still hasnt done a damn thing. Yeah i counted. I never wanted to be the way I am now, but with all the pain and violence that i have had to live with there just isnt any other way to live. My life now is fucked up and i fear that when i am on my own that life will be fucked up too. Im trying the best i can to just coast through the rest of high school but with all the anger and hate that i have to live with, i dont know if i will ever be able to say that i have had a "normal" life like all my friends. I wish i had different parents. i know thats mean to say but thats honestly how i feel at this point in my life. |

Pesonally, listening to this song makes me think of my last relationship. He's saying that he's breaking up with his girlfriend. "One last kiss Before I go Dry your tears It is time to let you go." This is basically saying that their time together is done and he just wants this to be a 'friendly' break up. "Because days come and go But my feelings for you are forever" This is saying that he will never stop loving her even though they aren't toghther. OR It could mean that some one is going off to war and he's saying goodbye to his girlfriend. |

This being about the government wondering how much longer they should be in the war, while the armed forces are dying just to buy more time for the "big men" are trying to figure stuff out. |

| What this song relly is about is the war in Iraq! What he's saying is basically, why the hell are we even in Iraq? "Stolen like a foreign soul." What this is saying is we shouldn't even be in Iraq our fight should be in Afghanistan. "Suffocate your own empire." This is saying that the war is going on so long that the tax payers dollars are going toward the war and not toward the infrastructure like it should be. And now that we're in the 7th year in the middle east, we're really seeing the affects. The recession, that everybody says we're not in, is the biggest affect of the war. I mean, c'mon people look around you; rising gas prices, car companies are cutting thousands of jobs, Chrysler declaring bankruptcy and signing with Fiot just to sell thier cars. This is all clear evidence of a recession put on us because we went into Iraq. This is what Brent saw a long time ago, before the major affects took hold. I think he was trying to warn us, but instead of all the media attention some people go for, he did it through a song: Devour. | |

What I prsonally think this song is about, is he befriended a prostitute and they got along going about their buisness. She being a hooker, she goes out and lets people do what they want for a certain amount of money. Through the years, she has accumulated scars from all her "clients" doing what they please. When Shaun confronts her about it, she loses what little self esteem she has left and chooses the path that no one wants: suicide. She hung herself and Shaun found her they way she was when she died. The part that he's angry about, though, is she didn't wait for him to try and help her; hence "She never found out how much I tried." He also wanted to find out how she could do what she did for a living; again, hence "I never found out how she survived A life living lies is a life of denial I never found out how she could lie The lie on her face and the darkness inside" This may or may not be accurate but it's just what I felt it meant so yeah...
