live in Gdansk is the best version of this song.gilmour's guitar sounds so rough,and aggressive when playing opposite to rick's smooth and gentle keyboards,like two forces ,bad and good are having a dual.to me ,is the most exiting part..the end is sort of sad....the beauty of the world is out there,but we can't enjoy it ,because an evil force,deep inside in all human being comes between us and all the tender grace in the world.so we ,end up lonely.life could be wonderful,nature itself is a god we should worship.if we could just realize that we could love and be loved without fear. |

after so many listening to this song,i still wonder how every line is so simple and true. they sharpen their knifes on my mistake is the most dramatic one, describes the cruel world we live in. and....its a same old world but nothing looks the same,is an agony of a person who lost his place in his own life,without any ability to cope with recent event...i could relate to this completely. |

it is clear that 2 persons are arguing, i think there are a young man and older women. but,i feel that at the and, woman is crying,because she used to believe in concept that we all are the hearts of our brothers,,but she is so disappointed ,and experienced selfishness in people,that eventually made her realize that concept was just an dream.that is why she is so sad ,and that great tears come from her sorrow,as she see her self in that young man,knowing that he is going to be hurt the same way. |
