| Jimmy Eat World – Table For Glasses Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The following is Jim's response to the meaning of "Table For Glasses": "I don’t usually discuss what songs are specifically about. But I think Table is worth talking about because it can help explain why that is. I was working at an art supply store off and on in between Static Prevails tour legs. At the end of the month we would be instructed to rip off the covers of the magazines we didn’t sell and box them to be returned. Being a not so great-paying retail gig, the staff would have little remorse just taking the old zines. I would check out Flash Art and Blind Spot. I found myself liking Maurizio Cattelan’s stuff. It was engaging in a way I hadn’t expected. He was the first person I found presenting art in a way that got you to think about what art really is. The local art scene was totally different than the music scene. Working at the store helped me find out about openings and showings. My group of friends were living in the university area but no one was going to school. We would hit up any and all openings. It felt like we were infiltrating a secret society, taking all their free food and drinks. Once, one of my dance-based coworkers had a performance on the college campus. It was tied in with some other local people’s work. Some with visual art, some with human-involved installation pieces. While we were outside waiting for my friend’s dance piece to start, there was a girl cleaning the ground with the tail of an all white dress. I think I was the only one of us who noticed. She went behind us and across a courtyard very slowly until she got to a candle lit table that had already been set up. She just sat there picking out the dirt from her dress into a few dozen tumblers. It occurred to me this was intended to be art. I know that sounds funny. This image of her stuck with me and for a while I couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t because I had been searching for some deeper meaning in why she was presenting her piece. It was because I realized it doesn’t matter why. This is the reason I usually steer conversations away from exact, specific explanations of lyrics and song-meanings: there is no correct way to interpret art. And there is no meaning more important or special than the one the listener/reader/viewer decides for themselves." The rest of Jim and Zach's interview about songs from Clarity can be found here: http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=1026342 It's a great read for those who love this album. |

| The Republic of Wolves – The Dead Men Stood Together Lyrics | 12 years ago |
The folksy lo-fi bit at the end is this, I believe: "Sacrifice is a part of life Sometimes not knowing is better. The ways that we roll, lines moving slow Time is a constant direction. I was just looking to know you I was just looking to know you I was just trying to know you I was just trying to know you I was just looking to know you I was just trying to know you I was just dying to know you..." |

"Yahweh" came out after "For The Workforce, Drowning" did. Just saying. |

I don't hear anything......eh, whatevs. Could just be my hearing. |
| Rise Against – Midnight Hands Lyrics | 14 years ago |
In the album booklet it's "angel on my shoulder/devil at my door" like what's correctly posted. |
| U2 – New York Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This remains one of my favorite and quite possibly one of the most underrated U2 songs out there. I can see it both in the metaphorical sense and the literal sense, but I personally have always connected it to just being New York, about New York. I do like the metaphors you guys have come up with though. The Live in Boston version of this is amazing, if you haven't heard it yet, hear it NOW. :D |
| Autopilot Off – The 12th Day Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It seems more as if to be about cleaning up and going through 9/11 and surviving to see September 12th than strictly about the events of 9/11 themselves. To me at least. I mean it can be interpreted as anybody going through a struggle, though yes, analysis makes it about 9/11. Yeah.... | |
| Porcupine Tree – .3 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Though remember not every song on the album is otherwise made to fit this concept.(The Sound of Muzak, for example) In fact, Steven Wilson has already said "means for the lyrics are not only to be understood as part of the album's concept (serial killers, rapists, child abusers and other "deviants") but also objectively, according to what the listener brings and assumes about them." That being said, I think the vagueness in this song about its lyrics can pretty much make it mean anything you want it to. As far as the lines itself go, I do think its more about a generalized idea of war, but I can see why people think about blood alcohol and caliber numbers as well, though those more only go with the song title. Either way, another amazing song by PT. |

HAHAHAHA. You mean "No one there to catch you in their arms." :P |
| Linkin Park – The Messenger Lyrics | 15 years ago |
really, I think after a whole album about the causes, effects, and ultimate destruction and horrific reality of war, "The Messenger" is a sign of hope. A song for how if we treat each other with kindness and respect, and do not get upset over useless things and resort to violence as a way of life, that people can live in peace. If we take the blindfold off when life leaves us blind, Love will keep us kind. That is the message. This is "The Messenger." To let us know that catastrophes of war CAN be prevented. |
| Linkin Park – Wisdom, Justice, And Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
nicely put winterman. Also, just some extra info if anyone is wondering, this excerpt is from his "Beyond Vietnam" speech, delivered on April 4, 1967, in New York City. |
| Linkin Park – Jornada Del Muerto Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Also would like to add that the song title is a reference to Jornada Del Muerto, a desert in New Mexico where the first atomic bomb testing was held. The lyrics are in Japanese to comply with the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Another hidden little tid-bit fact that has to do with the concept. |
| Jimmy Eat World – Cut Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's "boy." It says so in the album booklet |
| Linkin Park – The Radiance Lyrics | 15 years ago |
For anybody who wants a bit more background into the meaning of this quote, and why it's on the album, it is because as you said, it was from Robert Oppenheimer, and he quoted this after witnessing the first atomic bomb detonation test in desert New Mexico: "We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form, and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another." Another line, (not mentioned in the track) from this was: "If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the mighty one." Which gives both the song and album name. |
| Linkin Park – When They Come For Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Because once you got a theory of how the thing works Everybody wants the next thing to be like the first" is one of the best lines on this album. It just says the situation from LP's music and their fans so well. I like all the songs, this is still a favorite. |
| Linkin Park – Iridescent Lyrics | 15 years ago |
It's a shame that this song is so good. It's going to get SOOOOOO overplayed. I can already tell, but I really like it. One of the best on 1KSuns. |

| The Operation M.D. – Lock Box Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| k thanks, dude. | |
| Jimmy Eat World – My Best Theory Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Correction: in the second verse theres a typo: you wrote "Lets hold the hold script" it should read "Lets hold the old script" lol, its okay though, easy mistake to make. And as for the bridge, I think you've got all but the "My doubt sings faith" line correct, but since I cant think of what its saying, theres really no correction there. Just letting you know, if you're gonna re-listen to it, thats the line i think needs re-listening; the rest is great. Thanks for putting up the lyrics :) |

| The Operation M.D. – I've Been Drinking Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I had hardly any idea what lyrics were, had to do them to the best of my ability. Corrections are greatly appreciated. | |
| Brand New – Limousine Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I'm not going to read through 22 pages of comments just to see if somebody already said this, but if the story about this song is true, and im 99% sure it is, doesnt the album cover go along with it. There is a young girl who looks around 7 years of age, and is dressed so that the only part of her body you can actually see (as in not covered up by clothes) is her head. Along with the supposedly "evil" men." |

| Chevelle – Panic Prone Lyrics | 15 years ago |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTL6keXVbX0 CHECK OUT MY MUSIC VIDEO FOR PANIC PRONE! It's very good, I've never gotten any bad comments on it yet. Anyway, yes, I'm pretty sure the song is about trying to save someone who can't be saved and has gone past their limit, whether it be from drug abuse, domestic violence, etc. |

| Rise Against – Elective Amnesia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Putting it together, "Elective" means "chosen or choosable," and amnesia is what it's called when you forget things and lose memories severely. That said, Elective Amnesia basically just means "choosing to forget." Simple as that. | |
| The Operation M.D. – Buried At Sea Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Corrected Lyrics: I'm on a boat, I don't wanna rocket But I'm feeling sick, so I gotta stop it You ran away from me, I'm on this sea alone now and We can't stop this now I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out And it could be the best thing that happened to me When I'm fighting for the love we forgot about In the end we'll both be buried at sea So you took a ride and it made you feel high Then the road went wide and it made you go blind Far out of sight, out of my mind, have I gone too far this time? We can't stop this now We got a home on the range But we're living like strangers Just do, someone to make those changes I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out And it could be the best thing that happened to me When I'm fighting for the love we forgot about In the end we'll both be buried at sea See the changes happening We can keep the memories We can keep the memories forever I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out And it could be the best thing that happened to me When I'm fighting for the love we forgot about In the end we'll both be buried at sea Can't you feel it happening Love was blind but now we see We can keep the memories forever I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out When I'm fighting for the love we forgot about I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out (In the end we'll both be buried at sea) When I'm fighting for the love we forgot about (In the end we'll both be buried at sea) I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out (In the end we'll both be buried at sea) I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out (In the end we'll both be buried at sea) I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out (In the end we'll both be buried at sea) I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out I'm counting on a world, I'm coming out |

| Tool – Cesaro Summability Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Okay, I'm a Tool fan, but not one of those who thinks that every single thing they do in a song has a secret meaning or purpose, but I stumbled upon this earlier today and it was CRAZY how well this synced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xk3xweLC If you combine (-) Ions and Cesaro Summability with H, it perfecetly syncs together. This video shows it, (side note; the song only begins at 0:53 in the video) But its so cool because Cesaro Summability starts around the lines "I could've cried, I should've cried" which matches exactly with the baby crying noises. And also, the ending notes of each song flow into eachother perfect. JUST WATCH THE VIDEO, YOU WONT REGRET IT! |

| Jimmy Eat World – Ten Lyrics | 15 years ago |
To me Ten is the change you become after a Halloween night In the first verse, it talks about just going home. You did this when you were little (3-9) In the second verse, you're maturing and instead of just having your own fun, you're also trying to prank or trick someone else. (10 is when this first starts happening and it continues until you're a teen, you feel pier pressure, go TP a house or something, and the choice you make can change your life) The bridge/third verse (whatever you wanna call it) is what would happen if you messed up on these nights, got drunk at a party with your BF/GF and was busted by the cops. (14-21) The chorus is saying how what you make on that night each year can change a life, and if you mess it up, you've got no one to blame but yourself) Halloween is also in October, the 10th month of the year. Plz respond is you agree/disagree. |
| Jimmy Eat World – Episode IV Lyrics | 15 years ago |
To me, the Episode IV is a reference to the fourth month of the year, April. I always get back from vacation and I hate having to start again, all I wanna do is have some fun, stay up late, hang out, and in that time, we sometimes forget to just think. And it just feels to me the song is about a guy and a girl just forgetting life and thinking beyond the limits. Dunno, whatev, just my two cents. |

| Linkin Park – Blackbirds Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I see where you're coming from, but one of the guys said in an interview said that their next album would be half MTM/half Meteora/Hybrid Theory. Most of the MTM half would have a bit of rock in it too though, (In Pieces for example) I'm with you though, I didn't mind their Minutes to Midnight stuff at all except for some of the singles getting old. Hands Held High-TLTGYA are some of LP's best work, though I do still like their earlier stuff more. |
