| A Girl Called Eddy – Golden Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This song is about 2 people who long for the warmth and security that love brings but is afraid of letting themselves be vunerable. She has loved once before and opened her heart but was mistreated and left damaged by all the hurt that was caused to her. She is still left confused and wondering why she deserved such immense pain and torture. She meets and falls in love with "the one" but he is not showing his love for her. He has also been damaged by his past hurt, is shut down. As a result she feels blue and haunted by her insecurities and fears rejection and being hurt all over. She doesn't feel safe and secure. Her new man not showing his love, tries to compensate with posessions but she is not materialistic. She is about what is real. She needs to feel loved in words and actions not in possessions. So take the purple And take the black And take all the colors of heartache back And throw them in the sea And say you love me Keep the silver, keep the gold Stay and watch the world get old But tonight I know why I'm here I don't need to lose you to know That it's already golden She realises that she does not need to lose her man to know what she already has. She has gold in her new love, that they are soul mates (even though he is not aware of this fact just yet) and is asking him to let go of his past hurt and pain and show is love for her and to trust her with his heart. |

The meaning of this song is an obvious one. A man who is only interested in the sexual side of a relationship Telling a poor girl whose fallen in love with him that he isn't worth the tears as he doesn't allow his heart to feel - that he is only interested in sex and thats all he is willling to give. He is only into chasing women Where ever I lay my hat thats my home Whoever gives it up is where he stays till he's bored and onto the next |

For me this song has a flavour of a trio situation. A married woman taking a lover and even though they have endured the difficulties of remaining in their "forbidden love" she always goes back to her husband (the leading man) its a repetative distructive cycle. The lover feels like a piece of his heart is taken away every time she goes back and he truly believes he loves her and that what they have is special and real (we got it going on) Hey, If we can solve any problem Then why do we lose so many tears Oh, and so you go again When the leading man appears Always the same thing Can't you see, we've got everything goin' on and on and on Every time you go away you take a piece of me with you Go on and go free, yeah Maybe you're too close to see I can feel yor body move It doesn't mean that much to me He is wanting to let her go but maybe she is too close/closed into her own selfishness to see his pain He can feel her body move (ref to sex and it being only about sex for her) It doesn't mean that much to him because he wants more than a sexual relationship Thats what I see in this song anyways |
