| The Classic Crime – Broken Mess Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Here's an interview where they talked about the song: “Broken Mess” is tragic in the beginning and yet very hopeful at the end. Can you tell us the story behind this song? Matt: Yeah, unfortunately it’s about something that happened to my brother. I don’t want to get into details about it, but it’s my response to a pretty dramatic situation that happened to him. I was on the road when I wrote it… I wrote it in 5 minutes into my phone as my mind was racing after learning some new stuff he had gone through. So I typed it all into my phone and I think we were at a show the next day and I sat in the trailer with an acoustic guitar and figured it out. I think when a lot of tragic things happen to me I put it in a song and I put it in a box so that it doesn’t haunt me. That’s like my grief. If I have it in a song then it’s there if I need to go to it. It won’t consume me on the inside it will be on the outside. So that was sort of like a grieving song, but at the same time there’s hope. And there’s reconciliation in my brother’s situation right now, so things are looking positive. So I definitely wanted to highlight that opportunity at the end of the song, for sure. source: http://www.tostartafire.com/blog/an-interview-with-the-classic-crime/ |

| Flyleaf – Uncle Bobby Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's hard to tell if this is talking about someone physically dying or someone being born again (from a Christian's perspective). It's interesting to see the title of the song being "Uncle Bobby", and I'm starting to think this is Lacey's perspective on what happened. It could be that maybe her uncle (and im taking this literal) might've been born again, and then somehow he had died causing her to "With mournful joy she finally lets out her cry" but she rejoices because she know's that her uncle's physical body has died but his spirit has gone into Heaven "Death has been swallowed by life, this dead will rise. Oh rise, oh rise." It's a quite interesting story/lyrics, and I'm really loving the melody of the song. I didn't pay too much attention until I started reading the lyrics. I LOVE this song. | |

This is another song that is amazing off the new album!!! I think this song is pretty self explanatory, the person is being oppressed by evil spirits/demons. Hence her screaming "Out out out out out out Now now now now now now". It could also mean that she is just infatuated with this person and it has taken over control over her and she tells herself that it needs to get out of her. And the chorus is pretty simple as well, come broken before God, break your pride and all that you thought you could do on your own, confess that you can't do it on your own and let God raise you up, build you up, and heal you. And the other verses I think are talking about that same person/spirit. I could be wrong, but this is what i've thought so far. I've only listened to it about 10x. I'll be back later when the CD comes out. FREAKING AMAZING SONG!!!!!! |

Well at first when I heard it and read the lyrics it was definitely in God's perspective as all the lyrics are pointing to us "you". I know most people would go off and say "why you christians always gotta make everything about God" but i'm not so concerned about them but what Lacey is trying to throw out. It seems as if God is watching his children fall and seek the acceptance of other people but keep getting rejected and their image is broken, and it's saying that if you surrender to me, everything you are and will be, you will be satisfied. Because we as human fail, even the "holiest" people, if you wanna put it that way. And he, being God, is saying to look to him and surrender it all to him, to trust and believe in him. I almost at one point thought that one of the verses was referring to Moses, "You were so close to me that you nearly died." as when Moses saw the back of God and nearly died. Idk about that but it's what i thought. |
