I was going to the city and trying to get signed writing songs.. I came back to visit a girl I'd liked for years. Years. First serious love kind of thing. I would've done anything for her. One night, we got into a really bad car accident. It was my fault. We were okay but she didnt seem to ever want to see me again. I thought she liked me... but little did I know she was seeing 2 other guys at the time. I pretty much meant nothing to her, in all reality. For the better part of a decade, it just devastated me. It was the guilt and shame... the fact that it happened with her of all people... When I came to after the accident, I thought I had to be having a nightmare. It had an even more devastating effect on my mental health. This began a series of horrifying events, mentally. Nervous breakdowns, persistent feelings of anguishing sense of rejection and loss... wanting it all to just stop. I kept writing music, but i had no confidence... I'd no longer had a sense of belonging... but it was all because I was without her... and the person that I was before it had all happened. This song strikes a chord with me. |
