Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek Lyrics 16 years ago
I created an account just to comment on this song. :)

Anyways, this is the way I interpreted the song:
People from early days (Say; 1500's - 1800's) have travelled to present time, or have seen what's going on in present day time. They are stunned at how things have changed. They can't believe what humanity has done to somewhat-destroy the planet and society so far.

"Where are we? / What the hell is going on?" - Again, the people can't believe where they are, and they can't believe what's going on.

"The dust has only just begun to fall / Crop circles in the carpet" - This destroying of the planet has only just begun, and the worst is yet to happen.

"Spin me around again and rub my eyes / This can't be happening" - The people can't believe that this world has changed so much in the passage of time.

"When busy streets a mess with people / Would stop to hold their heads heavy" - People these days are so depressed, and aren't enjoying life.

"All those years / They were here first" - The trees, plants, rivers, and oceans (etc.) were here first, and humanity has destroyed a lot of them.

"Oily marks appear on walls / Where pleasure moments hung before" - The wall represents the planet. There are now oily marks, or stains. Those represent how much this world has been "stained with oily marks". Pleasure moments are pictures, or memories that used to be there.

"The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity / Of this still life" - Humanity is taking over, and they are being but-most insensitive to this still life, or earth.

"Blood and tears" - These days, all you see is blood and tears from people.

"Mm, what'cha say/'s" - Present day people are trying to explain that they only meant well, and past people are replying with 'Oh, of course you did', sarcastically.

"Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth / Mid-sweet-talk newspaper word cutouts" - Saying that the present day people's words mean nothing, basically.

"Speak no feeling; no, I don't believe you / You don't care a bit" - Present day people speak no feeling. Past people don't believe their excuses, and present day people don't care a bit about this planet, or anything in general.

Well, anyways. I guess this is a way to interpret this song. I've read other entries, and it's so interesting to go back and read the lyrics, and try to understand others' viewpoints.

Tata for now
