Awesome break up song..you can tell he feels crappy about the break up, but he's not going to let it break his spirit. He's able to express the sadness he's feeling at the moment, but at the same time he's able to show the enduring drive he has to try to stick it to his ex by doing bigger and better things without her. Amen brother, you can do better. |

I feel like the title of the song is so appropriate..he didn't make the title of the song "Perfect" for a wonderfully simplistic reason: the love between he and his ex wasn't perfect. They obviously broke up for a reason, and he is able to capture the post-breakup regret and longing that a person feels towards their ex in the aftermath. This song is about his transition from a comfortable relationship to a scary new life in the lonely world of a single person. As is natural, he seems to dwell on all of the good qualities he misses about her, while overlooking her flaws and all of the events that transpired which caused them to break up. He's also able to show that although a woman might seem perfect on paper (which might warrant high fives from your friends because of her) it might not mean that she is the right one for you. Great song, great lyrics. |

I think the song is actually about two people who love each other deeply and want to be together, but for one reason or another can't be because the circumstances of their lives won't allow it. They are enjoying their time together as much as possible, and are savoring their love while it lasts, but they know that the obstacles their relationship must face will make it impossible for things to last forever, which makes the situation that much more tragic. |
