Placebo – Spite and Malice Lyrics 14 years ago
Actually, now that I think about it, aces seem more like asexuals than bisexuals. It would also make more sense with regards to some of the rest of the song. For example, "Jack is all tragic when he stands alone" could be saying that Jacks feel so tragic when they aren't with someone, while it's just a normal thing for Aces.

Oops, I meant different card types, not different suits.

The way I see it, the different suits represent males of different sexualities. Jacks are straight, Queens are homosexual, and Aces are bisexual (the euphamism is that aces "go both ways"). The parts about Jacks mainly state that they basically have nothing to worry about. It says that queens are basically "left for dead". What it asys to Aces, however, is much more. They need to take their time (when looking for partners); pity is all they'll get, so they need to hold it close, etc.

Am I the only one who thinks Aces are bisexuals?

Placebo – For What It's Worth Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with cameo, but, sadly, not with gimmefate. How can I describe what he means with "for what it's worth"? By using it in context!

Judge: "You are charged with murder!"
Defendant: "For what it's worth, he had a gun" Either that or

Man 1: "I killed the dog today"
Man 2: "That's horrible!"
Man 1: "For what it's worth, my girlfriend just broke up with me. I've been on an emotional roller coaster all week"

Hope that helps explain things :)

Placebo – Battle For The Sun Lyrics 16 years ago
Awesome song! Great lyrics! I'm a big fan of Placebo and admire this heavy change. But I think I have some meaning behind the lyrics

Sorry to contradict you all, but I don't think this is about Steve's departure at all. This song makes much more sense when you read it (minus the repitition) instead of listening to it (quicker too!)

I believe "I will battle for the sun" to mean "I will fight for what I believe in"

"You are getting in the way" = "You are trying to stop me"

"I will brush off all the dirt, and I will pretend it didn't hurt" could mean "I will brush off the people that try to stop me, and continue as if it didn't happen" or "after each obstacle, I will pull myself together and keep going," I prefer the latter of these 2

"You are a black and heavy weight," continuing from "You are trying to stop me," it means "You are a burden"

"I will not participate" = "I won't be a part of it," which basically means "I'm not going to be burdened by you any more, I'm going to keep going"

Metaphorically, "'Cause i have stared down the barrel of a gun" = "I will go to war because I know what it's like to stare death in the face" In real terms, it means "I will fight for what I believe in, because I know there is an incredibley high likelihood that I will pay for it, and believe me, I know"

"I am the bones you couldn't break," "I get knocked down! But I get up again! You're never gonna bring me down!" They mean the same thing. Multiple songs have this imagery of being unmoveable in your original assertion, and that's what this line means.

Sorry it's so long, I believe I've rambled on for long enough! Still searching for the meaning behind "You are a cheap and nasty fake" and "Dream brother, my killer, my lover"
