yea. i musta been far too in love with it at the time to listen to the words properly...seriously that was way back in may and it's still my favorite woods song. favorite song ever. im not sure about what it means anymore than i did 8 months ago. i guess no-one else is either... This is a badly written understanding of it. im feeling pretty sad at the moment so im probably going to think it's about death. which i actually think it is, but it's probably not. (but i really do think it is) i think the first line, whoever wrote this is talking about themselves, how they wish to undo the past and they mention the grave of someone they loved thinking about how time passes or doesn't pass for them any more and asking them to do the things they used to do because everyone misses them and when they drink for the pain they'll feel even more ashamed for trying to forget. the 'halo of shame' is a ...and i guess like they did in life, that person is waiting for it to be summer so they can do the things they used to do when they were alive but the perfections of life/death come back and can never go away and then he asks them to 'pass the number' wanting and believing that person to still be around to call up or that passing the number means that person wants to be a ghost too strangely sweet and comforting and spooky and bitter and perfect all at the same time |
