| Mastodon – This Mortal Soil Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Love this song, though the ending doesn't fit it. My interpretation is that he's scaled the mountain a bit more. And to me, there's evidence of "Sleeping Giant" in this song. "Floating in red again A deepened soil" I see it as the lava flow has cooled, causing the soil itself to deepen. "The atmosphere that floats above the earth Is corrupt for man This we know" Some volcanoes erupt with such force that the ash hangs in the air. It holds chemicals and gasses that would kill a human, thus being corrupt for man. "What has dwelt within the early dawn has gone away That's okay" The volcanic activity has finished, and the mountain has become dormant again. and finally "Circle Made of ash Betray her presence" The circle made of ash, hangs around the peak of the mountain. The circle is the cloud cover. Betraying her presence seems to be the location of where the Crystal Skull goes... either that, or where the snow queen was. |

| Mastodon – Blood & Thunder Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This entire song could be considered from Moby Dick or Ahab's perspective. "I think that someone is trying to kill me Infecting my blood and destroying my mind" Ahab's first encounter with the whale. could be the start of the obsession or moby dick realizing ahab's trying to kill him "No man of the flesh could ever stop me" Kinda seems like it's like moby dick's ego. "The fight for this fish is a fight to the death" if i was a whale, i'd think i was a fish too. (don't fuck with me attitude) at the time of the novel did humans know that whales were mammals? Never mind... "What remorseless emperor commands me I no longer govern my soul I am completely immersed in darkness As I turn my body away from the sun" it could be either moby dick leaving to the depths of the ocean or ahab's obsession taking over his mind. the last part is definitely ahab, which makes it more likely the first part is from the perspective of the whale. either way, awesome song. |

| Mastodon – Megalodon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| looking down the page, i notice some people saying it's about an actual megalodon. but i gotta agree with with poopsmcgee. the megalodon was an apex predator (had no natural predators) so i would figure that that's what moby dick would be... the apex predator of the novel. | |
