When I heard the song, I didn't get the vibe that it was about Sufjan, or him having a childhood "lover," but whatever he means, it doesn't matter to me whether he's gay or not. This is my favorite song by him. This part I'm a bit confused with: "Oh great sights upon this state, hallelu? Wonders bright, and rivers, lake, hallelu? Trail of Tears and Horseshoe Lake, hallelu? Trusting things beyond mistake, hallelu?" Can anyone explain? |

| E For Explosion – I Ain't Lost If I'm With You Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song made me cry the first time I heard it, the lyrics are so beautiful. It's about someone who's just pieced together i guess (maybe I'm taking it too literally), but they're just falling apart, and this person that they're with gives them such comfort, | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Death of an Interior Decorator Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This is such a sad song, very beautiful but sad. My favorite line is "...and walked into the angry sea, it felt just like falling in love again," what a way to describe her suicide. | |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Cath... Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yeah I agree with befuddled. It's really a sad song, and I think that maybe Cath realizes that she's doing the wrong thing, but she realizes it too late and I guess she's just stuck where she is. | |

This was the first song I'd ever heard by Death Cab. It was so beautiful that by the time I'd listened to it (4 times in a row), and I had finished crying, becuase it'd touched me so much, I decided that Death Cab would become my favorite band, and it still is to this day. Maybe I'm just being a hopeless romantic, but to me this is the most honest, rugged love song ever written. It's saying, I'm not going anywhere, not now or ever, and Gibbard's voice along wiith the pure acoustic guitar really makes the lyrcis stick to you wherever you go. Thanks for making such a moving song. |
