| I think this song is about a family, and the mother left, which caused the father to go crazy, probably start drinking and trace all the problems he and his wife had back to his daughter, so she is filled with this feeling that she is at fault for all of her familys problems, and the only person she can truly confide in is this one guy, who has learned to love her and truly show her she was not at fault. dont get me wrong...i am in NO way saying avril is punk lol....just...whos to say whats punk and whats not? punk is just an over used cliche... who the hell cares if somebody says theyre punk you say theyre not...not your place to say...its not just the music that makes you a "punk" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- well punk started off as a REBELLION AGAINST POPULAR MUSIC when artists such as elvis, the beatles and the beachboys first came out, many of the main influences of this genre of music are the new york dolls and iggy pop. Bands such as television took it on and changed it to their own sound and made it something they called punk. Then the ramones and the sex pistols came out, and well they're no better than blink 182, or sum 41 because they aswell were corporate whores, the ramones made a movie, enough said(they still rok though cuz they didnt change to try and make money, they did what they liked doing) and the sex pistols were completely in it for the money, which explains why alot of their purchasable live stuff isn't really live, but just has an audience track in the background. This just proves that MTV owns the world and they tried taking on an image, the "punk" image, now punk can't be sold and mass produced because punk isnt an image.... It's rebellion, rebellion doesnt come from the clothes you wear or the music you play, it comes from the mind, and when you rebel against society for what you strongly believe in, then you get my definition of punk..... Avril Lavigne is not rebelling against popular music, she is popular music, so in theory it is impossible for her to be punk. Also her music has no importance to it whatsoever, it lacks depth, and is basically a bubblegum pop song with harder background music. Its all about relationships and ooooey gooooey love type stuff. Punk brings up issues, thats what punk truly is to me, bands dont have to be so "hardcore" to be punk, like avril lavigne claims to be, she is no more than a little girl in baggy pants trying to sell records. And its funny cuz she thinks shes king shit, i remember her saying quote unquote "Sk8er Boi is one of the most hardcore powerful songs on a guitar, alot of girls think they can play as good as me but they can't" Seeing as she used to be a country singer and only started singing this so called "punk" music because it was becoming the popular thing to do, i dont think she really knows what shes talking about, powerful can be anything that speaks to a person.... and this doesn't speak to anyone except little girls who havent experienced life yet............
