Groove Coverage – Runaway Lyrics 6 years ago
I completely love this song. In fact, this has to be one of my favorite songs ever. This is odd for me, being that I usually am listening to extreme heavy metal. Somehow Groove Coverage, and other Dance/Trance bands have found their way into the structure of my heart.

The lyrics are so self explanatory that I shouldn't even try to expound upon them. Though the bridge lyrics may sound a little confusing, but I think she (Mell or Melanie Munch) is siting what possibilities they could actually have together. Perhaps Groove Coverage uses lyrics that appear to just rhyme and nothing more, but in their simplicity, they do paint a picture of some glorious fantasy to be attained.

Many times I listen to this song and feel a lot of rebellion in my spirit. "No I am not your fucking second choice! No I am not turning down my voice!" It's the same feeling you would get when everyone turns you away, but only the lowliest would want you, or someone who turned you away, and tried to find someone or something better than you, failed, and now is trying to get a second chance from you. And you say no! And you are not going to turn down your voice and just obey like a slave.

This song is seriously amazing. Even the first line -- which I promised earlier to not expound upon -- touches my heart. That is, it displays just how truly cruel this world is, and will tear you to pieces. And while the song may be referencing romance, love or sex, I do feel it goes beyond that. Just ask the entire world, "Why do you tear my broken soul apart? I want to know just what is going on in that heart of yours, because it is just a palace of ice and evil! Why? I am already broken down, yet you smash me into pieces again. Is this even real?"

Certainly you could view this from the perspective of an abusive lover, etc. But then again, is this entire world not just an "abusive lover." Nature itself is an abusive lover.

Don't you wish you could just runaway from it all? Runaway and leave all your worries and troubles behind? I do.

I want to runaway.

Behemoth – Decade of Therion Lyrics 6 years ago
First, I must comment that the lyrics supplied are, without a doubt, incorrect.

The main theme that is chanted throughout the song is actually:

"Apo Pantos Kakodaimonos!"

This is Greek meaning, "Away every evil spirit!" Indeed this chant is taken from Aleister Crowley's ritual entitled The Star Ruby, which is the Thelemic version of the Golden Dawn's Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, also known as the LBRP.

It is rather ironic that a band such as Behemoth, that displays a Satanic image, sings lyrics saying, "Away every evil spirit!" But this is so! And rightfully so, as we shouldn't go judging before knowing. While I cannot say for sure, it is a fair estimate from what I have witnessed of the band Behemoth, that they have probably been studying Crowley, Thelema, Kabbalah, and probably a hundred or more occult texts. The feel I get from their music is that they have experienced states of consciousness beyond the norm from utilizing these rituals.

The lyrics refer to staying in a state of non-quality. As I recall, the word non-quality is used, and not non-quantity. Though this may actually be suggesting and implying both. The singer is speaking of transcending duality, and the Sefirot in general, that is, possibly experiencing a state of Nothingness, or Belimah -- Ain, Ain Sof and Ain Sof Aur (the Veils of Negative Existence). He also may be referencing a journey into the Abyss, as his consciousness diminishes into "madness" -- probably experiencing Choronzon (333), the guardian and dweller of the Abyss. Earlier in the song the term "Tantric" is mentioned, which is not a reference to sex, or sex magick - at least not in the literal sense - but rather Tantra as in the uniting of Siva and Sakti, via, I would assume, Kundalini energy, which then initiates the further experience.

Therion is simply Greek for Beast, and was used not only in the Holy Bible (Revelation) but also profusely by Aleister Crowley. Therion was a title that Crowley would use to not only adorn himself, but also use a reference to Chaos (also mentioned in the song, though as "Mother Chaos") who is Chakmah, or the 2nd Sefira.

Of course Therion, according to the Bible, is infamous for having been given the number of 666.

This song is very beautiful in its simplicity. Though at times some of the vocals almost sound inaudible, but I think this adds to the trippy (literally) ambience of the song.

The actual music video for Decade of Therion displays pictures of Aleister Crowley in the background multiple times. Watch and see for yourself. And remember that Crowley considered himself to be Therion, or To Mega Therion, The Great Beast 666.

Personally I suggest anyone truly interested in topics like this to actually put to use and practice the mantra of "Apo Pantos Kakodaimonos" several times daily, and practice the LBRP or Star Ruby, etc. There is nothing wrong with doing so, and it's not evil or demonic. In fact, this chant, or ritual, is used to drive off evil spirits, or whatever opposition may befall thee.

Danzig – She Rides Lyrics 6 years ago
Danzig is very well read in the occult, magick, etc. Chances are "She Rides" is in reference to The Whore of Babylon mentioned in the last book of the Holy Bible, Revelation. Not only is Danzig singing about the Whore of Babylon, but also what, in Thelema, which was developed by Aleister Crowley, is Babalon. Babalon rides upon the Beast with 7 Heads, that is the Lower 7 Sefira that were emanated into the Abyss. Her Cup is the Holy Grail, and there the Aspirant, or Magician, if you will, sacrifices all that he has and all that he is, including his own Ego, as he crosses the abyss, facing the illusions of Choronzon (333). The path taken over the Abyss is shown to be from Geburah to Binah, and is Atu 7, the Chariot, which has the value of 418 -- that is the same value as ABRAHADABRA -- which is the word of The Great Work Complete. That is the magician has met his HGA, and both have preceded across the Abyss, drained their blood into the Chalice/Cup of Babalon, and as now nothing more than dust, is reborn, becoming a Babe of the Abyss and Magus: Master of the Temple.

Dio – Rainbow In The Dark Lyrics 8 years ago
I hate to be the one to tell you, but you are ALL WRONG. Especially those who think this song "is not much lyrically." On the contrary, this song is incredibly deep!

Many have said that, "A rainbow cannot exist in the dark." Well, that is because they are not students of the Occult. Ronnie James Dio was head deep into the Occult and what is called, "Magic." It is impossible to understand this song, or other Dio songs, unless you are extremely educated in the Occult. Most definitely a Rainbow CAN exist in the Dark. It's just understanding what this "Rainbow" is, how it can be, "In," "the Dark."

First, we have to have knowledge that the entire Creation takes place when the Ain Sof remove's it's Aur (Light), creating an empty space. This might be hard to visualize at first, but simply imagine an ocean of infinite light. Now imagine carving a hole, or a perfect sphere of emptiness into that light. This process is called the "Tzimtzum," or restriction.

So now we have an infinite ocean of light, but in one place of the light, we now have a spherical void carved there. This is "The Abyss," or what The Holy Bible calls in B'rayshyt (Genesis) 1, the "Tehom." This Abyss is also called "Tohu VehBohu," meaning, "Chaos and Void."

Next the Elohim, or who some call, "God," brings Aur (Light) down into the Tehom (Abyss). This occurs in B'rayshyt (Genesis) 1:3, "Let there be light and there was light." Light is now brought down into the Abyss.

The Light, or "Aur," is brought down into the Abyss not all at once, but through a thin line or thread. As this thread of Light moves down toward the center, core of the Abyss it emanates 10 Spheres, or Sefirot. Each one of the Sefirot is like a color of the rainbow.

Thus, literally, the entire Creation is a "Rainbow in the Dark,"

"You're just a picture. You're an image caught in time. We're a lie, you and I, we're words without rhyme."

Dio is saying we are caught in this vile creation of YHVH. Time is part of this Creation. Before the Tzimtzum took place, there was no time. Nor was there any "image" to be caught there. Note too, humans are, "created in the image of the Elohim."

Anyhow.. this is all I wanted to say for now, or reveal......

Nightwish – Amaranth Lyrics 12 years ago
My interpretation of Amaranth is quite different than anything else I'm seeing people post on the matter. I see a lot of folks saying this song is about religion, god, angels, etc. While there is in fact a fallen angel in the official Amaranth video, I think the song is talking about something totally different:

Everyone is missing out on the blatant fact that Nightwish just fired their old singer "Tarja Turunen," who was a professional operatic vocalist. The new singer was, and star for Amaranth was "Annette Olzen." Nightwish had incredible beef with Tarja. Read the letter they sent to her when firing her.

I would say, definitely, beyond doubt, that this song is directed toward Tarja Turunen.

Some arguments you could use against this? The song speaks more about a male character, such as, "Alone without himself." Yet, the video is showing the fallen angel to be a female. Thus there is an immediate contradiction. It appears the lyrics, while using masculine terms, could very easily be generalizing certain archetypal concepts that are actually directed at Tarja Turunen.

Perhaps Tara Turunen is the one who is "Baptized with a perfect name," implying she was born so perfect in many aspects, especially bestowed the gift of singing, and also beauty (refer to Nightwish's Bye Bye Beautiful off the same album) and after leaving Nightwish is "alone without himself."

The lines, "You believe but what you see. You receive but what you give." Are certainly a reference to Tarja being hit by karma for treating Nightwish with such disrespect. She was not giving them the appropriate treatment they deserved, instead treating them like pawns (refer to Bye Bye Beautiful lyrics, "Did we play just to become pawns in a game." Bye Bye Beautiful also has a line, "How blind can you be don't you see?" which is directed toward Tarja, calling her blind as to the potential she had with Nightwish that she threw away.

I believe the chorus of this song, "Caress the one, the never fading rain in your heart, the tears of snow white sorrow. Caress the one the hiding Amaranth in a land of the daybreak," could actually be asking Tarja to recover the energy and passion she once had when working and performing with Nightwish. Tarja became "the doubting one by heart," who back-stabbed Nightwish.

Nightwish made it very clear in their letter to Tarja, to the media, and fans that they are not willing to give up their band. They worked incredibly hard to get where they were, and wouldn't not let go. Thus, Nightwish is "Amaranth." Amaranth is a mythological flower that perpetually stays in bloom. I suspect that Nightwish feels they receive their inspiration for music, lyrics, etc, from "Amaranth," thus are the physical and audible manifestation of this archetype epitomizing perpetual myth, and fantasy.

To make a long story short. I think this song is in reference to Tarja Turunen, so is Bye Bye Beautiful, Master Passion Greed, etc....

In Flames – Cloud Connected Lyrics 13 years ago
A lot of people, so I notice, think this deals with religions, or even drugs. I don't feel so.

Let's analyze the title "Cloud Connected." Clouds, for the most part, are going to be up in the sky, and far from the earth below. The same way a literal dream is not just the experience of outer, physical phenomena, but something more internal -- even accessing "another world," a higher world.

I admit, some of the parts of this song I do not fully comprehend.

But, I think the chorus is a dead giveaway of a more esoteric meaning:
"What I've come to realize, with every little glimpse you fade." Almost as if, we are searching for an understanding to reality, who, what and why we are; why this entire universe is. He feels like, when he catches a glimpse, a taste of this understanding, it merely fades, and he is back into this stupor, a state of darkness and ignorance.

"I was told that I could fly, when least expected, cloud connected." I take this very literal -- the suggestion of an actual ascension beyond the physical realm. Almost, an "Astral" experience. Out of body experience, etc. Accessing higher realms. Similar to Marilyn Manson talking about "getting his wings," the ability to recognize that within each human is his or her "own God." We are divine beings, not made of this gross physical matter, but indeed "cloud connected" to higher dimensions.

The line, "You crossed the line.. you remember my name..." This I feel is a very sacred experience. Perhaps crossing into a higher dimension, and retaining awareness, and there, recalling the "Logos," which is the Word, or archetype which is used as a pattern for all that exists.

"Time runs backwards as we're heading that way." This is a reference to more abstract experiences that might happen in higher realms, where indeed, time may even run backwards.. stop, or cease to exist, etc.

"When least expected, clouded connected," he may have been enlightened when least expecting it. He may have not been meditating, or searching, or really doing anything to provoke the experience -- but it happened! He was told by higher entities that there is much BEYOND.

"Life is but a dream"

Marilyn Manson – Dope Hat Lyrics 16 years ago
Marilyn Manson's "Dope Hat" is a kick ass song.

When I hear the words "Dope Hat," the first thing that comes to my mind is a hat with a bag of dope (drugs) in it.

We all know that Marilyn Manson is a huge fan of the Willy Wonka movie, so that should be the first clue. The second clue, is that the video for Dope Hat is an allusion (reference) towards the boat scene on the Willy Wonka movie. Third, the intro to the Portrait of An American Family starts off with what Willy Wonka says when they are in the boat going through a creepy/scary ride.

Manson is taking on the role of Willy Wonka, only, instead of taking people on a tour through a candy/chocolate factory, he's taking the children into a drug/psychadelic trip/wild stage show.

When Manson is talking about "fail to see the anguish/darkness in my eyes," this is another reference to Willy Wonka. Willy Wonka was always thought to be some great candy/chocolate maker, but no one really understood how he was trying to take care of umpa loompas, be a scientist, and create his own perfect world seperate from the chaos of a normal persons existance. Rememeber how Willy Wonka didn't seem to give a damn when children got pwned ?.. they failed to see the darkness in his eyes.

Of course, the "Dope Hat," itself, is also from Willy Wonka. Just as Willy Wonka wore that top hat, so does Manson, only he's saying his hat has drugs in it, or rather, he is on drugs.

Hope this helped.
