i completely agree. the whole show shook me up in such a good way. i'm still reeling from it four days later, and all i want to listen to is sufjan. nothing else sounds good enough now. |

first of all, i don't think sufjan is addressing royal in this song, as a previous commenter said. i was at his concert last night and after he played this song he said that it was his apocalypse love song, and how a relationship ending is the same thing as the end of the world. he said it kind of jokingly but i think he was partly serious. the song that he said was about royal robertson was "get real, get right." |

this kind of reminds me a little bit of plato's allegory of the cave. how he's saying now we can see. except in this song it seems like once you get out of the cave things aren't that great. you still kick your dead enemies, you still need the medicine "but only for the fix."
it's awfully catchy too. but i think the lyrics are quite meaningful. |
