Beth Gibbons – Mysteries Lyrics 16 years ago
Today I've heard this song for the first time and I suddenly fell in love with it. It's haunting, pure poetry about the beauty and joy of life, despite of every damned trouble we have to deal with. Beth Gibbons is one of the last romantic authors living (you know, "romantic" in a wide meaning, a literature meaning, not only sentimental).

Radiohead – Weird Fishes/Arpeggi Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that both Weird fishes (radiohead) and The rip (portishead) have esoteric lyrics. I don't know if they did it voluntarily, but these lyrics express some concepts about inner knowledge's research that belong to some heathen religions and alchemy (for example, the "worms and fishes" eating Thom in Weird fishes bridge, it's an egiptian allegory for inner rebirth). I might be wrong, but Thom and Beth know something more than what we usually suppose ;-)

Portishead – Magic Doors Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm quite sure that Beth is heterosexual, don't ask me how I know it, it's no gossip at all. I think that her problem is about obsessive thoughts. Obsessive thoughts are very hard to manage: they're something you don't want, they overtake you and pollute your relationships with yourself and other people, too. I had a problem of obsessive thoughts some years ago: I found them frustrating, embarassing and absolutely not desired; in the darkest moments, obsessions make you think that you're guilty, sick and all wrong! I bought a book that helped me to defeat this shitty mental waste, now I'm fine. I think that Beth is (or was) victim of obsessive thoughts, something that made her feel guilty and morally dirty, something that let her down heavily. It's just my opinion, of course: since she doesn't release interviews, we only can suppose things...
