Awesome song. This song is kinda calling for people to wake up and realize what we're doing to ourselves. Everyone. Don't join society. Find a way to screw over industrial capitalism until enough people join in and the whole thing falls apart. That doesn't mean don't make money necessarily, although in my mind the endpoint is the end of money. But make money, find out who or what these corporations represent, and dont give them any money. Simple. They control what you think. If you're not aware of it, that's because they make sure of it, and because your thoughts are being controlled. Not a crazy theory, its the truth. Watch a documentary, i'd recommend anything on the media, or about Monsanto, or about the military industrial complex. I've got a mind I've got half a mind To shut down the whole system at the spine With fishing line Before I read these comments, I thought this was about something completely different than suicide. I guess I can see how people would think that, but when I first heard this I thought it was about dropping out of society. Maybe it's because that's what I want to do, but shutting down the whole system at the spine with fishing line sounds like saying fuck it I'm going to live in the woods and fend for myself like we were meant to. And then the following line, it's only a stab in a wet paper bag I thought was pointing out that dropping out of society wouldn't have any effect on society itself because to it you are insignificant, know what I'm saying? and when I say society, I'm talking about industrial capitalism, not necessarily the group of people you associate with or the interpersonal part of the system. People get this mixed up. Well it makes sense to me. when I first heard this i thought it was genius because I was having the same thoughts about how dropping out is the best thing I can do to save the planet and stop the stresses and pressures, and try to take from the power of govt to do harm on others, including ourselves. But i knew that it was just a stab at a wet paper bag (hehe). I think this is a common thought for people who take a look at how our world operates, and I know Doug Martsch is smart enough to notice. Just a thought, the suicide thing makes sense too |

I love the triple meaning of "the universe is shaped exactly like the earth, if you go straight long enough you'll end up where you were." Or I think this is what he meant. The two meanings are directly written, of course.. how, if the universe is infinite, and therefore you will eventually run into yourself, or another exact copy of it.. at least thats what i think. And then the part that relates to the theme of the song, if you go straight long enough you'll end up where you were.. like you won't get anywhere if you don't make any change that's my professional opinion |
