I love this song so much. The last line always makes me sad. "And he waits for it to disappear again". I always think of a guy who really does love a girl, but is in denial, and doesn't want to commit or get to close, because he always thinks that he will leave her. But in truth it's the non-committing that destroys their relationship. |

I think this song is about a guy who worked really hard to impress this one girl because she was beautiful, but once he had her and lost her he realized he had never really wanted her. In a way, it was just for the trying to get her. He liked the idea of having her as his girlfriend, but realized that the reality wasn't what he had hoped. |

I owe a lot to this song. I first found it when I watched a Half Life 2 video on Youtube, and ever since then I've loved Death Cab for Cutie. Some people I know call it emo, but it isn't emo, it's just pure raw emotion. |

I can relate to this song (kinda). I sit next to a friend everyday on the bus. She's really popular, but I'm not. And although I can't offer anything, like an interesting conversation, she still sits with me. I think of leaving and sitting somewhere else just to avoid the awkward silence which greats me every morning, but we sit together in silent fear that we'll end up sitting alone. I feel guilty, because she can do better than me and sit with anyone because she is popular, but I can't do better than her and would end up sitting alone.
I love this song. The rhythm, the lyrics, the all around feeling. . . just beautiful. |
