I don't think the lyrics are actually about this, but they can be twisted to fit my current situation: I'm "making my escape" to university next year, "tell myself that everything's in shape" - I'll get the right grades to get in, but there are feelings of self-doubt. The chorus signifies teenage indecision while you're trying to sort out your life ["everything is adding up up up"]. The second verse could be about the huge amounts of stress ladled on me by my school... As I said, that's almost certainly not the intended meaning, but that's what it means to me at the moment. On another note... Keith is the most gorgeous man in the world, and WAS are the best live band I've ever seen. They're fantastic. |

"These could be the best days of our lives But I don't think we'd be living very wise" - no point having the time of your life when you're young, because nothing will ever compare to the hedonistic days of your 20s and you'll have nothing left to look forward to? That's what I'm afraid of... |

He's in a bad part of his life when he meets her ("maybe you're gonna be the one that saves me", "all the roads we have to walk are winding" etc)... He loves her, she's everything to him and he doesn't know how to tell her. Beautiful song - an absolute classic. |

RE the "It breaks my heart to see you hanging from your shelf" - She has a boyfriend, and it breaks his heart that she's been put away on this shelf where he can't get her. Kinda like in Toy Story when Woody's put on the shelf out of the way. Incredible lyrics, incredible tune, incredible video, incredibly hot lead man. Not so much now with the beard, though. I can so relate -___-" |
