| I always pictured her falling in love with a Selkie. It explains (to me anyways) all the references to water, besides the fact that they're obviously on the coast on an island. The lines that put this meaning in my head was "Suddenly, I knew that you'd have to go./Your world was not mine, your eyes told me so" because a Selkie was not capable of living out of the water for long periods of time. The sea always called them home. | |

Pippin: Your Latin is far better than the average person of any age these days (unless said person is a member of a Catholic Church and took Latin in Sunday school) The song is simply an old hymn, and I can't really trace anything extra about it. The basic translation is: Rejoice, Rejoice! Christ is born Of the virgin Mary, Rejoice! It is now the time of grace That we have desired; Let us sing songs of joy, Let us give devotion. God was made man, And nature marvels; The world was renewed By Christ who is King. The closed gate of Ezechiel (This line speaks of a Biblical prophesy written in the book of Ezekiel "the closed gate" being Mary) Has been passed through; From where the light rises Salvation is found. Therefore let our assembly now sing, Sing the Psalms to purify us; Let it praise the Lord: Greetings to our King. |
